  1. Well a short history to start, in 2016 I slipped a disc and had only been able to ride it a couple of times before I moved to the country in 2019. When I got it here I decided to give it a bit of a smarten up so I organised a hi flow filter, new plugs , cans, a custom jetting kit (which has the same jets as those that are in it) etc etc etc, then some cunt shutdown the world. As a result the bike sat while I waited and waited on the parts, sadly I had already pulled a bunch of stuff off it otherwise I would have left it as it was. So got the forks done and sent the rear shock away for a rebuild, eventually got someone to help me get the tank off, what a c*nt of a job, took two of us about 15 minutes, I guess that's the price that you pay for ready to race bikes. Anyway I pottered away at it and now have it close to fruition, things that I need to do include the calipers, plugs, air filter and coolant, that's eff all I hear you snigger. So I have the calipers off and split and now need to blow the pistons out, they are stuck so they are in a container with lanolin and WD40 and when my mate gets back in his shop I'll take them down and use his compressor, hopefully they'll pop out and the seals will be OK, the local KTM fiche tells me that these parts cost a bomb and also are not in stock, just more good news really so I'll make do with what I have. In more good news the weather has made an abrupt turn from six days of 36+ in a row to a pleasant 28 average so now I can get into the garage without a special suit which is nice. I found that whenever I wanted to do something on the bike it was a little tricky, take adding coolant for example, I went and got what I needed and then opened the owners manual, to refill the coolant raise the front wheel 500mm, great I thought, nothing like challenge, I eventually got an engine lifter for that job but now it needs done again since moving the bike to a new garage. I saw online that if you lie the bike over to near horizontal and massage the large hose you can pump it through, well its easier than getting an engine lifter I think, however I had a thought and with my very large syringe and a suitable length of tubing I should be able to squirt some coolant in at the bottom, maybe even fill it up the drain plug, will give that a go later. I now need to do the plugs and filter and maybe check the carbs, when I stopped riding it I let the fuel completely run out while idling so hopefully the carbs aren't all gummy, as I have had it running albeit a bit roughly that seems to have worked, I do not want to do anything to the carbs if I can avoid it, maybe a can of carb cleaner might sort out any little problems, so that's about it apart from one major job, remounting the top box bracket, if it doesn't have a top box it's not a proper bike, no tiny caravan for me and Pete, we're top box men. So here's a couple of photos of the calipers and also my inside work area to set the scene.

  3. It hit 29.9 Celsius here today in the shade! Thankfully there’s now a gentle breeze otherwise I’d have to put some ice in my Chardonnay to keep it chilled.

  20. No I was having those days off anyway I wasn't planning on having to take it back but oh well shit happens. In other news I've heard from the seller and he's said bring it in Friday morning, everything will get fixed along with the recall which I found out from audi this morning is for a heating element replacement, though unsure what heating element they are on about. But I said to them I'll bring it in but I want a replacement vehicle as I still need to be able to get about and it's down to them to pay for it which they also agreed so it best be a like for like otherwise I'll reject it. But yeah so far the dealership have so far been fair. Unlike cut&shut'R'us

  27. Update Her son spoke with the doctor today :--- MRI shows that the spine is not compressed which is positive. Spinal injury seems positive as in there is not any big concerns over ability to function her limbs etc. She is more active today in terms of moving her legs a bit and arms a bit. Still uncertain in terms of brain injury which is the waiting game. They are planning to move her to the Poly trauma unit tomorrow if there is bed space. It basically means she is stable enough and can be discharged from critical care. She is also tolerating less oxygen support whiich is good! She has opened her eyes slightly a couple of times too. Hopefully these are good signs.

  28. I was out by 11am and it was a roundtrip of 200kms......mostly motorway unfortunately! The destination was the old Railway Workshops in Guadix which have been closed for many years and are now in a pretty bad state! It's claim to fame is that it's been featured in two films.....North West Frontier in 1959, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989. The vid is a bit different this time......no soundtrack as it's all low speed onboard footage so a lot less wind noise! Now this is why a Top Box is essential here because of the temperature variations that can occur during the day! When I left the house it was 14C but in Guadix it was 26C......so I'd be carrying all this shit around with me if I didn't have the Box. Inside the main workshops...... Snow on the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background! Apparently there's a locomotive within this shed...... It was the first time I'd been out in a month, so the bike got a good run. As usual, it never missed a beat.......though it did get covered in dust getting access to this place. Which meant a visit to the Jet Wash......the first one since last November! So that was my day......best run I've had for some time. And I can now walk around when I stop......without getting a load from grief from my Hernia! Did I mention that I had a Hernia?

  29. You alright mate, is everything going good, aaaah that's good, anyway just one thing that you might like to consider, your constant allusions to conspiracy theories and political mentions are kind of getting the fundamental purpose of the forum off track if you know what I mean, so if you stop mentioning things that cause me to respond in order to set you right we'll all have a much better time. I'm sure that all the others agree with me as well, it's not that we don't like you or anything, it's just that you can be a bit disruptive, tata for now.
