When my mate Charlie still lived in Essex he had a Yamaha DTR125 and a classic Suzuki 500 2 stroke which he commuted down the M11 on. I would know if he was ahead of me in the morning as I could smell the 2 stroke oil. Sure enough I'd catch up with him wedged up some lorry's back side slip streaming it if he was on the 125 because he didn't have the oomph to pass it, or flying along on the old 500 thing. They both self destructed eventually and he switched back to using his GSXR1100 for work duties.4 points

Been raining overnight and just waiting for more to come in the next few hours. But the longterm forecast is saying that next weekend could be the end of it. I hope so.......cos this is insane for this time of year!4 points

when i was a learner on my 125 many years ago i was given a a gallon of SAE40 castrol R and as cash was very tight i was using it in the bike. while out riding i was pulled over by a copper on a bike which was nothing unusual back then as it was a weekly thing for me, anyway i was expecting to get the usual bullshit from him and asked what i was doing wrong today, he replied there's nothing wrong I've been following you for a while because i could smell the Castrol R which took me back to my days of racing thought i'd stop you for a chat about it. he was ok and i didn't get a producer but the fucker still took about 45 minutes of my day.4 points

This is one of the best articles I've read on electric vehicles so far. Enjoy! https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jun/03/electric-vehicles-early-adopter-petrol-car-ev-environment-rowan-atkinson3 points

I had one of the last TS250ER , local shop was selling them off cheap as the new model was arriving soon, I paid £679 on the road. I wouldn't want one now though, although it never let me down they were very cheaply made. Brittle plastics, 6V electrics , dodgy wiring and some other stuff that I can't recall now.3 points

I use this Draper gauge and a cheapie compressor from Lidl. The gauge on the compressor is off but I normally go above what I need and the bring the pressure down with the bleed valve on the gauge. I have an accessory plug on my bike so I can power the compressor from it. Bit bulky but accurate and quick.3 points

That strawberry stuff has been around for years, I used to purposely ride behind a guy on a two-stroke bike years ago just to get a wiff. Can't beat the smell of Castrol-R though ............... https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united-kingdom/home/motorcycle-oil-and-fluids/motorcycle-engine-oils/2-stroke-engine-oils.html3 points

I did a quick 50 mile run to scrub the new rear tyre in and bed the brakes in a bit. Got back and changed the transmission fluid ready for the trip down to Naseby on Thursday.2 points

Watched a band called the Blarneys last night, you name, they'll play it, vast range. There's a bloke called Wag who plays violin/fiddle for them. He's got to be nearly 80 and lives in sheltered accommodation around the corner to the club I saw him in last night, I swear he has started to look younger since I last saw him.2 points

No I said July and August because of the heat. What I don't understand is @busabeast continually going on about wanting to ride over here......and I'm sure he does. But I find it odd that considering he's got a young family it appears like he's going to leave them stuck in Sunderland while he goes off on his jollies. I think it would be more appropriate if he brought them over and booked a hotel in Malaga for all of them.......then hires a bike for a few days in between. Nice break for his family I'd have thought.2 points

I had similar thoughts when i was looking at a DT175 in CMC last week but the bike looked tiny and back then i was around 10 stone i think my muscular 16 stone frame now would crush it LOL2 points

Suzuki have rectified the 6v electrics since though. They're still working on the rest as I understand it. And you can also add bad welding to the list as well.2 points

Just when I think you can't possibly come out with anything more stupid than your previous crap you exceed yourself with possibly the most stupid statement I've ever seen . You'd be a great politician, most of them live in a fantasy land as well .2 points

Yep, I like looking at them but modern bikes are sooooooooooo much better to ride. The good thing about those old bikes is they were so easy to work on2 points

@zzzak, it’s time you started your education. There are no black people and white people, we are all the same colour, just some people are more melanin deficient than others. Don’t worry, I don’t judge you for your inferior melanin though. I judge you because you are a bellend.2 points
