  1. Hadn’t heard of Thunder in the Glens, just watched the YouTube promo. 10,000 visitors in a weekend! I hope @Buckster you’re not one of the ones causing the disturbing vision of Harleys and hi-viz vests if you’re not wearing jeans n a T-shirt riding along with a cigar in one hand I’m gonna be disappointed.

  4. Having lost brakes due to overheating two out of the three times I've tried to drive down our local mountain in an automatic four wheel drive, I must beg to differ. Please give me back a manual transmission and some decent engine braking because I'm having too much fun to die. And also I'm sick of sitting on the mountain as it gets dark, waiting for the brakes to cool...

  9. my Toyota Auris, which is hybrid and obviously has their CVT ( continuous Variable Transmission) which is a bizarre type of automatic box ( but doesn't actually have "staged" gears as such, has no manual mode. It does have a position with enhanced engine braking and increased energy recuperation via the wheels to recharge the batteries for use in moutainous areas which reduces the amount of actual brake needed.

  19. So far, so good @Sofia , but I'll do a review when I've got a few more kms under my belt. Mine is the Street Scrambler, which is the little brother to the 1200 Scrambler, but so far it does exactly what I want from it.

  20. I voted for Bob because that's the face of a man that's so glad to be back out on 2 wheels! But all the others photos are superb, they all deserve to be winners!

  21. a report in the UK last week suggested that the majority of todays university students will be repaying their student loans well into their 60's...! average cost of a years at university inthe UK now at somewhere between 10 and 15 thousand pounds?! I'm sooooglad i refused that path when it was offered me. Here I pay about 250€ a year administration fee for N01 Daughter and the rest is free ( I obviously pay board and lodging) adn as a scholarship student she can eat in the University restaurant for 1€ per meal. To reply to Grace's original post, we don't do Valentines day gifts either but I used it as an excuse to buy her a bracelet which has "over the MooN" picked out in morse code...

  26. Good thread Pedro! For me it would be a GS like yours......and the destination: Mühlberg / Stammlager IV B. Where my father was imprisoned as a POW in 1944/1945......it's where he contracted the TB that eventually caused his death in 1959.
