If retailers drop the Hero 9 to about €300 then I'll go for that. I know the 10 is better......but I doubt it's nearly €200 better!3 points

Been thinking of something for a while especially since I've been reading about people getting abused by the general public on the trails. Only 2 weeks ago Steve one leg got beaten by an old lady with a walking stick some of the other lads had verbal abuse off two old ladies at the end of another lane and i had an encounter with an angry farmer the other day. Would be nice to get some video of them but £5003 points

Chains are something that I'm very obsessive about......they always have to have the exact tension, be spotlessly clean, and well lubed! This is mine at 23K kms/14.5K miles.......but it would be a lot better if I'd owned it from new. It's condition wasn't that bad when I got it......it's just that it was dirty and gummed up with wax! So it wasn't running as freely as it should have been. Lot better now after repeated cleanings and regular use of Castrol Synthetic chain oil! So let's see yours! I know @Tym's and @boboneleg's will be very good........but god knows what @Sir Fallsalot's will be like! Probably half a field embedded in it!2 points

Here's one I remembered.....it goes back to 1980 when Graham Bonnet was in Rainbow with his "James Dean" look! I thought that look was great and as my hair was pretty much like that anyway I just got myself a Hawaiian shirt! Well me and a mate went to the Talk of the Abbey in Neath on heavy metal night......all Neath subhumans who looked like Lemmy there. And me with my Graham Bonnet look. I went to the bog and this fucking huge twat and his mates came up to me and say "You're in the wrong place mush.......you better fuck off now while you can". I thought......here we fucking go! So I went to find my mate to give him the heads up......and he'd gone up onto the balcony and was standing by the bar there. As I was telling him there was a problem I accidentally hit his glass over! It started rolling off the bar, so I dived forward quickly to grab the glass, and in doing so my ass must have swung backwards! I felt a bump from behind, and as I turned round I saw a pair of feet disappearing over the top of the balcony! Then a smash and a lot of screaming coming from below! It appeared that at the very same time I leant forward, the subhuman who'd threatened me was walking past behind me! And my ass had hit him clean over the balcony and he'd fallen 20 foot onto the tables and floor below! I said to my mate we'd better get out quick......he said I gotta go to the bog first. When he came back he told me that guy was laid out in the toilet, and all his mates were going "See that fucking poof in the Hawaiian shirt out there! He's hard as fuck.....he just threw (whatever the bloke's name was) over the top of the fucking balcony".2 points

Keep an eye on Amazon and eBay - they occasionally have discount offers almost randomly pop up. Not long ago eBay had a short lived 20% offer, which meant things like this were effectively vat free2 points

I very rarely go for the latest kit nowadays Pete, I wait anxiously for it to come out so the previous version drops like a brick in price Who on Earth needs 5.3k?, it's very rare that anyone watches videos in anything above HD and often just 720p as their watching on a phone/tablet For the latest kit you'll always pay what it's worth plus a premium for joining all the mugs who queue up waiting for it to come out2 points

I said a similar thing to Mr Slowly! The advert is promising all the amazing improvements it’s promised with each iteration. It looks good but I’ll wait for the reviews, sometimes these things do leap forward but often it’s small incremental steps.2 points

Well, what I have learned, like most things these days, it is 75% hype and 25% substance. GoPro is no different, they sell the new ones like they are soooooo different, but they are not that much "better" from the older ones. I always buy the older models on sale when the new ones come out, always a good deal. They are also much more affordable here overall. As for me, well I have 5 GoPro's already so I think I will hold off this time around. BUT, I love them all, they are super fun.2 points

Count me in I find cameras can make these tracks look a lot worse than they are but for some reason make a steep hill look relatively flat2 points

In that case you’d do a lot worse than a twin. However, the main limit will be your budget and also how old you’re prepared to go. For example, a newish Honda CB500X with decent tyres will do everything you want and Rally Raid in the UK do some great stuff for them. However, you could pick up a much older Kawasaki KLE500 for next to nothing, spend a little bit on consumables to get it running and riding nice and that will also do the distance stuff but will be so much better than the Honda off road……….and it’s a Kawasaki so will not break.2 points

I'm taking my bike is in for a service/MOT on Thursday and have asked for the G310GS as a courtesy bike while I wait. Am interested to see what it's like.2 points

@Slowlycatchymonkey how about a second hand KTM690 Enduro R, fairly tall but again they sink a fair bit once you get on. Great bit of kit off road and plenty of grunt on the tarmac………but that seat is truly awful. Mind you, I rode mine from Burgos in the north of Spain to our house down here on the south east coast in one hit. Couldn’t walk properly for a couple of days Anyway, loved it and I’d have another in a heartbeat.2 points

Good bikes that’s for sure, ditch those wheels and replace with some nice lightweight spoked ones and you’d have some credibility.2 points

Not a lot of power for any sort of distance on that Bob! Old XT's and DR's would be too tall! Plus they were withdrawn about 20 years ago so she'd have to buy something really old. I still say the 650GS is the most logical choice!1 point
