Damerells Feb 23

Recommended Posts

Just mooching around the show room while they are fitting heated grips to my CB.   Loads of bikes here as usual, several sold waiting for their 23 plate.
My old Himalayan is in the showroom but no price tag on it yet.
I do like the look of the Honda NCT 1100 tourers they have here.  I would never buy one but they do look good.    Also like the couple of Africa Twins they have as well as a nice Yam XSR.

The NCT1100 hasn't really taken off, certainly over here.

You do see them around in Portugal. But Portugal always was a fan of Africa Twins and Paneuropeans

Spooky, my thought exactly.

Good selection too.

You don't get bike shops like that here.......certainly not in my part of the world.

The best I've been to in terms of presentation is Belmonte BMW in Murcia!

Full of Chinkies these days!

Personally I miss the old spit and sawdust bike shops we had back in the 70's.

Those guys could fix anything with whatever came to hand!

I used to hang around Hanks Chop Shop on the Broadway Cardiff that was a proper spit and sawdust place along with the scrap yard type dog/wolf LOL There was nothing they couldn't build there

There is a good old fashion fix it shop near me that I intend to use in the future once the guarantee on my bike is up.  Lots of my mates go there.  Polar opposite to Dameralls.  Not putting Dameralls down they are good as gold but big and corporate,   Colin Flashman's is proper old school, they fix anything and do not rip you off. https://www.flashmanmotorcycles.co.uk/

I clearly remember my dad taking me to a garage. They weren’t called dealerships then to see the new (at that time) Z. My dad wouldn’t shut up about the fact they were all parked up on carpet.  And not a drop of oil. Whereas all the Brit bikes had drip trays underneath them. The garage was making a point.

I was at the bike show in London in 1972 when they unveiled the Z1......that was the gamechanger!

I bought a set of Fat Boy wheels off Hank back in the day.  They used to build some awesome trikes and chops.

Hanks shop is in Caerphilly now, and Hayden has the Trike shop just off Lamby way.

When he moved from bikes to trikes he started making a reversible conversion kit so you could make your standard bike into a Trike without chopping it up and you could change it back because everything was just bolt on. He still does bikes as well

Both appealing and sterile. There’s plenty of spit n sawdust places left round here. I like both. The clean places with a cafe you can eat in without wondering what the food hygienes like and the places where the owner works there and actually knows bikes inside out. There’s room for both I think.
