  3. Really looking 4ward to getting to our reserved campsite this afternoon...friends we're camping with already secured it. Packed up the truck yesterday...decided to take the Manual...Mongoose mtn. bike, since I haven't thrown a leg over it for awhile. Just gotta pack up 2 coolers, collect the dogs & we're gone!

  4. The thunder and lightning always seems to skirt round us. It’s the only upside of going to see the in-laws in Florida, they have some really good storms. I was standing in the porch way watching a really good thunderstorm a few years back and lightning hit the ground just the other side of the garden fence. I nearly shat myself.

  5. That’s what you say you want, but what you really want is a project. I think you need two more bikes, really: the second one to “just get on and ride” and the third one to “paint brake callipers and rebuild stuff with needles and new seals”. Tell your wife this is what keeps a man out of extra marital habits.

  6. She rode the 500 rebel yesterday and liked it, says she'd use it to commute. Stupid woman, it's fugly.

  12. Fabulous!... I really like a good thunderstorm, but they nearly always miss this area around us... Dry, sunny and about 22c here, sat in the garden having a cuppa......waiting for the biscuit bandits to arrive....

  13. It's absolutely pissing down here Clive, thunder and lightning, the whole 9 yards.

  14. I don’t think so, no. The thought of having to lube a chain again is annoying even before I have to do it. But that bike isn’t meant to be for me. I haven’t ridden one yet, but at 230kg wet I’ll be surprised if it feels more agile than my bike.

  15. I think I want a big displacement traillie with more offroad ability. Something that can go on long trips easily and relaxed in doing road miles but is better suited for a little more offroad than a GS. It has to be nice enough of a road bike for a quick 300km on the motorway without feeling stressed and exhausting, and have creature comforts. The R12G/S seems almost perfect on paper except it’s got a baby fuel tank. I had a sit on one and I honestly I didn’t really feel interested on taking it out for a testride. The new R1300 Adventures are growing on me, they seem strong mechanically so maybe I’ll test one in a year or so and see how they are. I’d like a R1200GS rallye to maybe treat in a different way than I do my bike. The RT is a fantasy bike for me, but maybe in a few years. I like the Harley Low Rider ST a lot, but can’t see me enjoying riding that on any of the roads I enjoy except on the motorway, plus can’t see me turning it around in the garages I park either And also I would feel like a show off on a Harley. I am probably going to be flying to London in October and riding a Scrambler 1200XE home along with Sofia on another one. That will certainly tell me if I want a traillie like that or not.

  17. I nearly fell foul to the Ivan incident, I saw him hit my car, I got to his car before he drove off, cos I had feeling he was going too. Looked at my door and said I need your insurance details To which Ivan said, i not want to do insurance.. You take to garage, they repair...give me bill, I pay. Nope, it's going through insurance, he reluctantly gave me his details. It was about 4 weeks from the start of the accident to getting my car back. New door was needed. I went to my daughters house just after I got the car back, and guess what?.....Ivan had buggered off back to Poland about 2 weeks earlier!.. Glad I did it through the insurance...or I would have been stuffed with the repair bill.

  20. It needs a bit of work, headstock bearing, and a blow on one header pipe, simple enough to fix, and not too much expense. If (I can't ) got it I would use it, not very often I know (I don't get out much ) but not to sell on. I had GPZ500 in the past, a decent enough bike, just the damn thing liked to corrode & and rust quickly...

  26. Why not put the spare engine in, and rebuild the original one to 175cc and give it some attitude? She’d love that!

  27. Now, Paul, someone was supposed to ask you: we’re not supposed to make fun of @Marcel for being really short. So please, regardless of how short he is, don’t make fun of him as he likes to think he’s really tall!

  29. 25th, so a bit over 2 weeks, I will be 61 I still feel about 20 in my head. My back aches, ankle is a bit knackered, shoulder aches due to a pinched nerve in my neck, half of my right leg is numb, so my body doesn't quite feel 20. ... but according to my wife I act like I'm about 12 most of the time.

  30. I don’t think it could. But there are worse looking bikes, at least it’s not trying hard to look like a Harley.

  36. I love the way you're thinking. Only problem is I'm too old to shag away half of everything I own and my Mrs knows that, plus I have gotten used to her now.

  37. Not getting defensive, it most likely wouldn't be quite right for her as its going in the wrong direction weight wise

  38. Fuck that's depressing Clive, given that I am only 10 years or so younger

  39. Still around 250 kg wet which is fecking heavy especially for a Lady who is looking for something lighter. Think a CBF1000 is around 240 wet so going in the wrong direction Don't get all defensive I personally think Busas are pretty cool, not sure I want one, I am over big power big weight stuff, but recognise that they are an interesting bit of kit.

  42. Mine is fast enough (for this old fart ) when out and about, it not particularly quick off the mark, maybe it would be a bit quicker if I weighed a bit less.

  44. Weather forecast looks quite reasonable for next week, so we are off to (you guessed it ) Mablethorpe from Monday till Thursday.... and in a B&B!..... we will be living the high life. not living like Pikeys in a caravan.

  45. Depending on the trip, the fact that you put some of the luggage weight straight "into" the bike makes that that extra weight affects it less. I forgot to say, one thing I really don't like about it is that you have to lift the passenger seat to fuel it up. It's not an issue unless you carry stuff on that seat, in which case it's annoying.
