  3. Coincidence. Nothing good comes from giving up cider.

  4. I was shivering on my way in to work this morning. My new jacket liner is not as good as the old liner it replaced, so I'm swapping that back over. I had the heated grips on, my 2 fingered gloves and my big handguards and my hands were still a little bit cold.

  5. Yep, also a collection of portraits of his mistress. The worst one was of his parents naked and disemboweled. There was a dark side to him for sure. On the tour you go through 3 rooms he decorated psychedelicly in the 1960's, they are pretty trippy and to be honest I thought more vandalism than decoration.

  6. I am not on allopurinol at the moment, I just get prescribed Colchicine when I have a bout of gout . I think it is probably time I go and have a chat with my Dr about allopurinol again, the last time we talked about it he thought that I wasn't getting the gout regularly enough to warrant it. Not feeling that great in general so going to make the time to go and see him. Thanks for the reply

  7. Hi Bob, and welcome in. I agree with almost everything @Motobiker said in his post ( except the bit about northern France being uninteresting, but this is not the question here). In your case get off the ferry or the chunnel and hoon down the A26 avoiding Paris like the plague, to Reims or even Troyes, depening on your timings and how long you can ride in a day ( Calais troyes is about 4 or 5 hours depending on speed and stopping time. A second day to get from Troyes to Morzine, again 5 hours actual saddle time, autoroute to Bourg en Bresse and then take the D979 to Nantua, D1084 to Bellegarde, D1206 as far as St Julien en Genevois. Pop back onto the autoroute A40 in order to bypass Geneva ( there's no other easy way round and it avoids going into switzerland and allows you to make some ground fast) off the A40 at Cluses to follow the D902 up to Morzine> from there you pick up the route de grands alpes. I know that part of the country well, and love it. OR the bearing from Troyes to Morzine is about 139deg true, grab a map and a compass and away ye go I can't really advise on lodgings as many will have changed sice I was regularly down that way, but as Motobiker says there are plenty apps to find hostels, hotels, campsites, whatever. Have fun! I'm about an hour and a half from anywhere between Troyes and Dijon, if you need anything give us a shout.

  8. Managed to locate and fit said thermostat today. Should have took a pic but the car's now holding temp as it should. Don't matter how long your been doing a trade, you're still learning. Especially with the German suff, never too complicated. Bloody gagging to get out on the bike now, brother in law needs to get back to work so I can get 3 bikes in the house MOTed.

  13. What dose allopurinol are you on? There’s a lot of leeway in dosage on Allopurinol and if you’re suffering it’s worth frequent reviews until an optimum dose is arrived at. Most people get one increase in dose and think that’s it but that’s not the end of finding a therapeutic dose. Things like splitting a larger dose into twice a day can be very effective. Sometimes persevering with your treatment provider is the only way to free yourself. As you know allopurinol is no use at stopping a bout of gout in full swing, it only works as a preventive measure. Sometimes drugs don’t work effectively simply because the patient puts up with the symptoms rather than having the dose adjusted. Hope that’s not you?! If it’s effecting your daily living medication is worth a second/third/fourth look. It’s worth noting down the duration, frequency and intensity of your attacks and giving it to whoever in charge of your treatment

  20. Police in Liverpool last night announced the discovery of an arms cache of 200 semi-automatic rifles with 25,000 rounds of ammunition, 20 tonnes of heroin, £5 million in forged UK banknotes and 25 trafficked Ukrainian prostitutes, all in a semi-detached house behind the Public Library in Toxteth. Local residents were stunned and a community spokesman said, "We're all shocked, we never knew we had a library."

Nah in the West Country that’s foreplay, gotta beat them with a shitty stick, tis the only way to get them moving, you should see the state of my second swimming pool, they think I only use the indoor one and I know they’ve been helping themselves from the fridge, as if bread and water isn’t enough, bloody ingrates.

  32. Fitted a new thermostat to an Audi a6 diesel today only to find it's no different. (Engine not getting hot). After a bit of research I've discovered the crafty germans have installed 2 thermostats on this model so tomorrow I will be pulling out most of the stuff I pulled out today, assuming I can get one tomorrow.

  34. A good day. The final payment was made to the bank loan that bought the Africa Twin in 2018. Some overpayments brought that forward. It was due to be paid off in November. So extra money now onwards. A good thing considering what “they” have done to this country.
