His warning was that trying to pee past the restriction caused by the enlarged prostate was likely to cause damage to the bladder muscles, which was likely to result in urinary incontinence eventually. So, leaving the swollen prostate was more likely to result in incontinence than removing some of the excess prostate material. There are other treatments too, so he may be offered them instead. My urologist here was dead against just leaving it and trying to treat it with drugs, as he said that it could eventually damage the bladder muscles. It could also lead to kidney damage and other infections. Anyway she was much better today although she’ll be on beta blockers for the rest of her life now, she’s not doing bad for 85 years old . The clinicians I work with never mention the cost of what they do, not a consideration for them, they just do what's best for the patient. I have no complaints with the NHS, they had me in for a MRI when I 1st went nigh on totally deaf very quickly, and supplied me with 2 hearing aids (which are now of little use). MRI every year to keep a eye on my tumour, and regular hearing () tests, and consultations (my wife relays my answers) with the Queens Medical centre in Nottingham, they have not so far forgotten to get in touch with me, and they are always on time. 6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
