I suppose some of the old Skoda jokes could be applied to Dacia nowdays, now that Skoda have moved slightly upmarket.

Slightly? Part of VW for over 25 years and probably the best value for money cars on the market. Besides a Jap they'd be my first choice.

They can get to fuck if that's going to work with me, I'll be ringing them today to tell them they halve it or I'm not using them and I'll go elsewhere

They try it on all the time had to change companies with the Beta this year saved myself over £50. We had the same with AA recovery, every year they kept increasing their renewal price and every year the wife kept knocking them back down until 2 years ago they dug their heels in so we told them to shove it. Their renewal cost was around £180 up from the £120 we were paying, so this year we are back with them for £59 same cover as two years ago, for some reason they rip off their loyal customers who haven't made a single call to them but dangle a carrot for new customers

I had a Skoda Favorit for about 1 ( before I got a firms car) year, it did everything I expected of a (cheap at the time) car, sold it for what I bought it for.

My German pal had a Yeti, he really liked it, he was going to upgrade to a Skoda Kodiac (spelt wrong?) But it was too big to fit in his garage. 😂

We had Skoda Octavias as Doctors cars, now we have Kodiacs.  Bloody good cars.  Not without fault but our Octavias  were hammered and not really serviced properly.  Even so 10 cars over 5 years around 150000 miles each I think we only had 3 breakdowns and one burnt to the ground but that was user error.

An old friend of mine used to have a mini and when his missus was driving he used to annoy her by pulling the handbrake up for some reason and then he got brand new Skoda Favorit and done the same handbrake thing, except the handbrake worked as it should in the Skoda the back wheels locked and his missus lost control of the car and spun into the crash barrier, they ended up in hospital luckily no one else was involved and they just had some minor cuts and bruises he never done that again  :classic_laugh:

Well I may be looking for a new job....

Last night I was driving down the approach road to the yard and a stagecoach bus was coming in the opposite direction at speed (45-50 mph) id estimate I was doing around 25.

The road is just wide enough to get a truck and bus past if there is some careful driving on both parts so it is tight but doable, now when I saw him he braked hard but was still doing 30 odd mph by the time he was passing me and I have to take avoiding action to stop a head on collision.

I ended up in a ditch due to it and caused some damage to the trailer gantry and some of the spray suppression gear but nothing that could be helped and did the bus driver stop..... dd he fuck he kept on going!

Now the gaffa is blaming me but not actually blaming me, and tld me if I'm not in tomorrow morning at 10am that I will be looking for a new job.....

My question is why doesn't he get in touch with the bus company for cctv footage and or call the police?

If he wants to blame me then by all means he can but fuck me I'll be giving him hell for it.

Tell you one thing the bus drivers aren't getting any quater from us drivers anymore I very nearly went in the lake that is visible in the pic and with it being fully loaded im surprised it didn't tip over

Yeah I got it out myself it had partly jack knifed, that's why the safety rail on the gantry is fucked as it took the impact from the tree

My brother had one as a company car in Poland, it was a tdi with 4wd, very nice to drive around in snow and all around the kind of car that grows on you and you then miss it. It drove all the way to Portugal and back to Warsaw for Christmas.

Yeah in the bus drivers case

No in your case, lack of experience. You are the one that went in the ditch even though one simple action would have avoided it.

And what is that simple action? Head on with a bus travelling at 30?

I think you should have stopped Rich , bus drivers stop for no one even though they’re carrying human cargo

Once you stop, anything that happens is the moving vehicles responsibility. It's not rocket science, it's called being a professional driver.

I get that but I wasn't prepared to have a smash with a bus travelling at 30mph so I took the ditch option
