  3. Not sure thats true Pete I see a hell of a lot of Seat, Mercs and some Toyota where I live. French wrecks are probably popular in the backwater places https://www.actualidadmotor.com/en/10-marcas-modelos-coches-mas-vendidos-espana-2022/

  5. Sunday school wasn't the only school he didn't go to. Ironic considering how much time he spends near schools now.

  6. The car decided not to cooperate this morning (after starting normally late yesterday afternoon)......so it was more of this! The wife didn't fall asleep today.....mainly because I went over a speed bump a bit too quick and it hurt her back. So I'm in the shit again!

  9. Went out in the old bmw car today, to have a coffee and a chat with a friend by the cool riverside. I went on the car as it's too hot to bother taking the bike, I´m just a casual as there were plenty of people suffering on bikes. Someone forgot the heating turned on outside and it's gone over 40ºC, so I spent the rest of the day enjoying a very quiet countryside from inside the house. It was not windy earlier and I've never been anywhere so quiet during the daytime, not even in Morocco.

  14. About eight weeks ago I was patting the cat when I came across a bindi in his fur, these are a small thorn with bits that can break off which one of bit promptly did. First my finger was uncomfortable, then it got annoying, then it swelled up and so I got a sharp blade to see if I could dig it out. Didn't work, what I got was a small open wound, to wit, a pyogenic granuloma, went to doc, applied silver nitrate, said come back anytime, a week later I was back, more SN, back again for a double dose. So as I was over silver nitrate he referred me to a surgeon, called about an appointment, said they would call me later on. Entered pyogenic etc into search and found this. I'm a big fan of traditional medicines as well as alternatives to other things such as curing arthritis if anyone is interested, more later maybe. So I embarked on the cure, started with blood filled bandage, it wouldn't stop bleeding, removed bandage and liberally poured ground white pepper on it to try to stem the flow, that's the brownish mess, cleaned it up with a dunk in hydrogen peroxide and applied the salt, this is it after two days, last night I had to not only take an Advil (ibuprofen) but got up a bit later for a Tramadol, however that seems to have passed, still tender as but well on the way to a full cure, they say two weeks. Photos are out of order, you'll figure it out.

  19. Yer it’s taken very seriously in this country. And honestly I think rightly so because overworked lorry drivers are not safe. The working times directive protects people from unscrupulous employers and protects the public against overworked lorry drivers. Who hasn’t watched a lorry very slowly veer over the rumble strip on a motorway? And cars for that matter but thats a different story. Falling asleep at the wheel is an horribly common occurrence. I remember when they introduced tachographs and my Dad being very unhappy about it, he did a complete 180 on that when they showed he was their best driver and that they were no longer strong armed into taking another load.

  25. No you definitely couldn't get away with that here. Over here it's a 45 min break after every 4 ½ hours of driving but if you don't drive the full 4 ½ hours you need to have taken a 15 min break within 6 hours of starting your shift. You can drive up to 10 hours twice a week and reduce your rest periods from 11 hours to 9 hours no more than 3 times in a week. You can't work 7 days a week either due to the 90 hour driving limit spread out over a 2 week period so that means you can only work 6 days 1 week and 5 the following week but you also need to take in to account the 48 hour rest period between the 2 week working periods. So I'd guess they aren't running on tacho or if they are they don't give a fuck what it says and do as they please

  28. Appart from having no neighbours to have a fish bbq tomorrow, I have just agreed to go have coffee with a recently motoryclist friend at 9am tomorrow, on a heatwave, with no fish bbq to fall back on afterwards. I could take the old BMW car but that has as much air conditioning as my bike. I’m sat outside going into the second bottle of wine too, this doesn’t help things for tomorrow! What can one do except emphasize even potential events?

  29. There might be some electronic wizardry going on … along with the hours spent on soft offroad terrain. His Volvo is looking a lot like my GS right now The main point is that there’s no neighbour to bbq a couple of seabass with

  30. Dry here tomorrow, I may go to one of those events where people dress up and pretend to be who they're not. Not a Harley rally. Next weekend I am off to Wiltshire with my littlest tent, with a brief foray into north Devon.
