  1. TLDR machine broke, arm hurts. My day today has gone down the pan. I was going to ride out to the Caves at Nerja for a look (google pic below) and then en route 10mins away theres a biker cafe thats owned by a chef that used to cook for royalty so combo of good food and bikes has to be checked out. But late last night the washing machine which is in the upstairs bathroom went absolutely tits. There was a loud banging noise which made me realise it was still going half an hour after it should have finished and it had turned into a buckeroo, jumping all over the shop and almost completely closing the bathroom door wedging itself right up against the sink. I just about managed to squeeze my right arm (which is already injured from something dumb I did) through the door and tried to push the machine back with one hand, unable to see it while it forcefully lurched forwards. It was clearly stuck in spin mode. Tbh it was a frightening. I can move a machine on my tod with both arms square in front of it but one arm outstretched round a door trying to push it left (ie not even straight on) while it bucks about, nope. Then it dawned on me it wasn't going to stop and would if I didn't get in and pull the plug it would likely catch fire. Now in brown trouser territory wondering what FIRE is in Spanish the fear strengthened my arm up and I pushed the machine far enough to get through the door, got into the bathroom (wow washing machines are violent when unbalanced) and climbed up to the plug.. peace at last. There you go, my right arm is now very unhappy although I've taken every painkiller I could find so thats helped a lot. Whats the Spanish for deep heat? Nerja caves, not discovered until 1959. They contain paintings from the paleolithic period, apparently some of the oldest in the world!

  3. A new bike night started last night at Sam’s Diner next to Cornish Market World last night so I popped in on the way to choir practice. Some interesting stuff to look at all local bikes, I knew some of the lads so it was a good way to spend an hour. About 25 bikes in total.

  4. House was like the Marie Celest so I bimbled up to Damerells to get some lunch and look at the bikes. Aside from the demonstrators and sold bikes there was only about 10 bikes actually for sale. Definitely silly season. Anyway I sat outside for lunch and had a chat with the CBT instructors who I know and this chap rocked up on a Interceptor from Switzerland. Not an everyday occurrence. He proceeded to charge his oil in the car park and mingled with the Daddy day care old fart crew. Interesting fella. Chucked a pair of saddlebags on his bike and travelled across Europe and on a whim.

  5. I spoke to a Harley rider last night that is going to Naseby. I asked him if he was going up with the local group. He made me laugh as he was adamant he wasn't riding up with them and was less than complimentary.

  6. Well that was a surreal evening. Choir practice tonight we had a visit from a Ukrainian ladies group that are living in St Austell and Mevagissey. I’m in Mevagissey male choir. Anyway we are hosting a concert for Mevagissey Feast Week and the Ukrainian’s are going to be singing with us. After our practice we always go to the pub, the ladies came as well. We always sing in the pub and they did also. Bloody lovely it was. I got chatting to one and asked what the song was about, apparently a sad love song. Very enjoyable evening.

  7. Fuck me, some people are dumb, yes we're out of the EU but we are still in Europe, we can't change that unless we all head to the beaches, all 75 million of us with oars and start paddling Britain further out into the Atlantic Ocean

  13. No I'll have a phone and a lappy but there's probably not very good reception out there, load the lappy with maps and some entertainment and enjoy living in nature rather than my current 12 hour days on the desktop. By the way I quit smoking the Devils weed a few weeks ago and don't miss it at all, another bonus is that I have virtually stopped drinking because of it, had one beer last night, thats average now so leaves me more money from my stipend for fuel etc. My rough plan is to get to the top part of Aus and see what arises, there's a famous river that I've read about that should be worth a look, search Palmer River Goldrush, I'm thinking metal detector time. I shall take my unjabbed body far from the reaches of the insane clowns in charge of the world and will celebrate my 71st birthday in my first week on the road.

  30. In the dark tea time of the soul I had a revelation, it was four o'clock in the morning, I was lying in my bed wondering about what was going on in my head.. Woke up wanting a leak and got to thinking about my choices, here I am chasing a dream in a Nissan, but that's only due to the fuel consumption. So I thought, with the new plugs and leads how much does the Pajero use at 80k, the speed I normally travel at these days as I'm usually on backroads and close to 71. Buying and selling vehicles adds up in the charges, esp out here so I did the sums. Australia is 18,000ks around, add another 2k for excursions and we have a benchmark of 20,000 ks. I plan on a year on the road before I come back here so that gives us an average of a mere 400k pw. The Nissan is rated at 10l/100 so at $2 a liter that's $80, rough estimate btw. The Pajero has done 12.5l/100 so we get a figure of $100 for the nominal distance. That gives us an annual cost of $4000 for the Nissan or $5000 for the Pajero or $20pw dearer, its fuck all when you look at the big picture. I've had the Pajero for five years and its a beauty, it's a full size true 4WD with Hi and Low ratios and all that stuff, as well it's just a better vehicle than any ¾ size upstart and I would feel a lot more confident at taking it on rough stuff, the Nissan less so. So, to test the mpg I'm off to Griffith which is 80k away and has some big 4WD accessory warehouses for me to pick brains in, also get my hands on some of the stuff I'm looking at to see how good it really is. I shall also visit a few auto wreckers, for example a new roo bar is over $1000, "How much for that worthless piece of shit Guv ?" I'll fill up here and when I get back refill and see the actual mpg that it gets. Pumping, also the local computer guy here is a 4WD enthusiast, when I asked about a lappy for the trip he burst into life, he has a $45,000 camper trailer, that's worth more than four times my whole planned setup, he is planning the exact same thing as well, he's very keen to help me with it. I guess its my winning personality that get me things like this. Polishes fingernails on shirt sleeve.
