it is the "fete de la Musique" this weekend in France, it happens every year on 21st June so loads of free concerts and bands all over the shop. a mate of mine was playing in a pub in auxerre with his group "The Biten Boys" ( which, when pronounced in French is "Les Bites en bois" which I will leave you to translate for yourselves... so Mrs Moon and N°1 daughter went there for the evening while I drove to Paris, wandered around the 12th arrondissement for a couple of hours and then slept for 2more ours in the car in an underground car park before driving home. I should maybe mention that, during this time, the twins were at a Doja Cat concert at the Accor Arena Bercy... I have gained do many hero points by driving them there and back and waiting around that it was worth it Also, everybody should drive to and from Paris for an evening from time to time, simply to remind them how lucky they are to NOT live there and have to deal with the fucking parisians on a regular basis. Yesterday I hid inside from the apalling weather, but today I will be out on the bike I reckon.

That's it I've had enough of painting, i was out there until half eight last night and been out there five hours today and i still have the pine end of the house, the back of the house and re-coat the kitchen extension. There's so many windows doors and corners to cut into it takes forever to get anywhere diner and larger time now.

After heading over the tops I started towards Gifford and was greeted with views towards the Firth of Forth and the Bass Rock. Also something familiar to Fred. More of what you all want of course. I have a picture of my Thruxton R at this same spot a few years ago. Then I headed home via the takeaway. I was a good afternoon ride.

I wanted to ride the Lammermuir Hills as it has been a while and the last time was well before I fitted the new shocks. I headed over some nice twisty country roads and through Duns before turning off and heading for Longformacus and up into the hills. Miles of single track roads with little traffic and a few cattle grids and many sheeps. This was looking back from where I had come from. This was where I was headed. The views were spectacular as always. That is Watch Water Reservoir in the distance.

I forced my pair to learn to drive as soon as they were old enough, they both tried to give up but i encouraged them to keep at it my daughter does thousands of miles a year and is enjoying the freedom it gives her the boy had a car for a short while before going to Uni and sold it and hasn't bothered since i think he's happy with his free bus pass but it's always there if he needs it.

Well my groups day of song went like a charm, over 100 singers and a crowd of just over 500, many more outside the marquee. All food sold out, don't know numbers for beer sales yet but pretty sure there were plenty. Been a bit jaded today and I reckong my voice has dropped an octave. Great day though and as far as I can tell everybody happy.

my brother in law is a tattooist , went for a shop to work from , there is another tattoo shop about a mile away , he got a visit from a hells angel, dont know if other shop had something to do with them or if the other tattooist knew the angels... any way got told he wasn't to open the shop.... they had his home address etc..

It’s interesting that you mention the Blue Angels as they have a large presence locally here and a couple of them live on the same urbanisation as myself. There’s also a Hells Angels chapter and the Bandidos have a clubhouse close by but it’s fairly new and seems to be in the process of starting up? They’ve had ‘open days’ for anyone to pop along and I’ve been on my Himalayan much to their amusement! No problem though and a couple came over and asked me about the bike. When I first got down here I used to ride around with quite a decent sized group of friends and acquaintances, sometimes there would be 20 or so on a ride out. Anyway, a few of them said it would be nice to have a badge, something to identify us by. It didn’t take long before we were approached by one of the Blue Angels who made it clear that if we wanted to go down that route then we should seek approval from them, specifically in terms of the badge design and crucially the name to be used for our group. It was made clear we could not call ourselves an MC. We also had to have a constitution and people identified as a President, Vice President etc etc. we did all that and were ‘approved’. I ended up being Vice President much to my wife’s disgust. Anyway, it didn’t take long to see that our group/club or whatever we ended up being defined as were growing closer and closer to the Blue Angels and we’re officially designated as a support outfit. For me, it had turned from what used to be a great bunch of people riding out together with no rules etc into a very regimented and rather select group of people that wanted to move even closer to the BA. The final straw for me was that several of the people that used to ride out with us didn’t want to wear a badge and the decision was taken to tell them they were not welcome unless they wore one. I was the only one that voted against it and I made it clear these people were friends and there was no way I was going to tell them to fuck off. I resigned immediately but wished them well in moving the club forward. They are now an MCC.

So today after church I headed out to get some new summer gloves, my short leather gloves are a little warm on days like today so I wanted some that were better vented, I found these in 3XL which were perfect for my big tall person hands. I needed to test them out so I headed out of town, I got them at J&S on the south side of the City so I headed south and made my way into the borders down the A68 before turning off and heading to Coldstream, about 70 miles. I looked for the Coldstream Guards but they were hiding so I went to the CoOp and got a sandwich and drink and headed to the park to sit in the sun and enjoy this culinary delight. While there I founds evidence of the guards. I sat on a bench overlooking the River Tweed the centre of which is the border between Scotland and England. I also had a nice cigar after my picnic and sat and watched Kingfishers, Herons and Otters down in the river, unfortunately my phone camera wasn’t up to the job of taking those kind of photos but it got me thinking of getting a decent camera. Then I started thinking of heading back.

He only showed some interest in driving/riding when I got my Honda CBR1000f, at the time he was all up for taking up biking, but Fosters/Stella/Heineken were a stronger draw. I told him a driving license could be beneficial in his present (this was years ago) and future jobs, before he decided to be a artist for the government he has a well paid job steel erecting, another firm offered him a job, a couple actually, but had to withdraw the offer when they found out that he had no license. It's a sad sight watching a 44 (nearly 45) year old man riding about on a clapped out mountain bike. But saying that, he is work at the moment at SDC trailers in town, but he has already started having days off, because he can't be arsed to get up for work. Daughter is totally different, she had a car six months before she could start taking lessons, but apart from going to work she does not travel any distances, she has followed me to North Wales and Scarborough, but won't risk it by herself, and her hubby is 40, and he can't drive, never had a license either, he's happy being a bus stop wanker.

My eldest is 43 soon and exactly the same , he has no go in him whatsoever.

Exactly the same happened to my ex brother in law when he wanted to open a custom bike shop in Bristol. He got told either he paid them or he couldn’t open the shop

30 years ago i'd agree, The MCC club i was in had their first rally and two of the local MC clubs turned up with guns and knives they must have put patches on all the thugs they knew because they never had the numbers in the clubs that turned up. The rally was at a place where the workforce building the A470 at the time stored their caravans and had gone home for the weekend, They set fire to some of the caravans put gas cylinders on the fires nicked the shocks off one of my mates bike it was like an over the top film and a real eye opener for me at 18 years old. When we phoned the police their answer was it's not our problem. But saying all that there was no fighting and nobody got hurt, we think they had it in their heads we were going to go MC as our club was getting quite large so decided to put a stop to it by scaring the shit out of us which they did, all we wanted to do was ride and party the club was never the same after that.
