  2. Que the most awkward selfie ever. Went up to Damerells and got myself some proper lined trousers for the winter. I got Richa's so they match and attach to my Jacket. Nice and warm riding home from the dealership. Just gotta fit the Oxford Muffs tomorrow and I should be set for the winter now.

  5. Just got back from Baza to have Medicals and put in the application to renew our driving licences. I only get one for five fucking years now! Then we called in to see a client (who's also a friend) at her cavehouse B&B. They've got a little electric thing that they run round in......wouldn't fancy going far in this.

  7. Nope, I am not that much of a fan of the angry insect, plastic fantastic look. Now if I could get a modern version of a CB400N Superdream that would be the more the cut of my jib.

  9. Nice jaunt out on the cycle today. Average speed is pretty low because we stopped off a couple of times and then one of the guys got a puncture. Anyway, the route, the gang (apart from Pascale, who took the photo) and a couple of pics from the ruins of a Roman house we looked at.

  12. Also went in Juan Cortes to drop my handguards off.....they're going to fit them when they do the tyre. There was a Brit there trying to explain that he wanted to matriculate his bike onto Spanish plates.....didn't speak a word of Spanish and they speak virtually no English. As soon as I walked through the door Juan and Jonathan started shouting "Pehterr.....Pehterr.....Venga". So yes.....I got stuck with having to do the translation and arrange the whole process!

  14. Logs delivered, sorted and stacked. Not cold enough for a fire yet but always good to be ready. I don’t do cold anymore. Admin duties completed, I set about fitting the satnav support onto the bike. No dramas but forgot to take a photo. Hardly an exciting day but it was mine and that’s all I’ve gotta say about that.

  16. I bleddy did it again. Followed a link on hear for some cheapy textile waterproof lined trousers on Ebay for £29.99. Guess what, they were crap and unwearable, mesh lining was sewn in twisted so you could not get you right leg in, press studs on the waste broken. Going back tomorrow. So I thought bite the bullet and go and buy some decent ones, which I did, and to my surprise the ones to match my Richa Jacket were only £99.99, so with my loyalty discount I got them for £89.99. Why the feck did I not do that in the first place? I think I have scrooge disease or something.

  20. So....today was an exciting day. Something came about that I thought was out of reach after we decided to purchase our van instead of a home back in July. Home prices in Canada are expensive and after the van I figured we would be renting places here and there, as there was no way we could afford another home. Well dreams tend to have a way of being persistent and out of habit we kept looking in the place that we have wanted to move for years now. Prices were still high, but then one day on the way back to camp I found it. I small home, which is all we want and some land, in the spot we had wanted, at a price we could do. I called the agent, an offer had already been put in. No way, it had only been on the market for 3 days. I was kicking myself, how did I miss this opportunity. A week later the agent called, the first offer had a problem and I was next in line. So we put an offer in, they accepted and today we signed for our new home on the east coast of Canada in the province of Nova Scotia. . We haven't seen the place but have been researching homes in the area for many years now. I also had a great agent check everything out for us. That means I could actually show up for pie some day @Tym, just say'n....lol So excited to have a place to hang out in for our winters, while we still travel the rest of the year. Also a great investment. Now the crazy part begins...... We are bored sitting around and want to see our new place. So this means driving across Canada in the winter. Honestly, I have more experience on a bike in the snow then I do with 4 wheels, but I grew up in it and will approach everything with a calmness that I hope will get me through. The vehicles get new tires in December and we have all the safety gear, but I am still really nervous about the over 6000km drive. Even though I did way more kms in the past 8 months, it is the nature of winter that changes everything. I was going to take my canoe, but luckily some people have talked me out of that craziness. WINDS + ICE + CANOE SAIL = Fast way into the ditch... I will leave her with a friend and come back out west for her in the summer! Another reason for a road trip is only a good thing. I am excited, nervous, and a bit scared. But it sure will be a snowy adventure. Right now departure date is December 12th. Any happy thoughts you want to throw my will be gladly accepted. If you actually read all this....

  21. I know I have said a little about it on here, but long story short my youngest 15 year old is having some mental health issues. Without going into to much detail for her sake, if you google a thing called attachment disorder, much would become clear. Anyway as an adopted child who came from a horribly chaotic background my youngest has all the classical symptoms of it. Her problems came to a head when she ran away from home, although she is much loved and happy normally. Long story short again it has all been triggered by a string of bullying from kids in school and harsh treatment by staff in school. Anyway I have been keeping her home from school to get her head straight and just take some emotional pressure from her shoulders. Been trips to doctors, youth workers Cams contact and in the new year she will be seeing an educational psychologist. Following this the school is finally coming around to the point that she is not just a naughty child that needs punishment but one who needs help and a bit of care. So today we take her back, on the proviso that we talk to the head of year before she goes in. What a total cock he was, I have never wanted to deck someone so much in my life and not actually done it. The first sentence out of his mouth was that on this one occasion he was not going to send her to the reset they had given her before I kept her home. Just to be clear Reset, in that school, is when the kids are sent to a classroom and have to sit silent facing the wall working, they are not allowed to speak even to ask the supervising member of staff for help with the work or use the toilet. He is sitting behind them. WTF sort of way is that to treat kids. I said that perhaps we should not be talking about punishment as my daughter, after much support and encouragement has found the courage to come back to school. And her mental health is far more important than some petty punishment. From this point on my Mrs took over as she saw they way it was going. I am not angry or violent person but like, anyone would be, you hurt my kids and you will see a different side to me. Anyway for the third time long story short my Mrs wiped the floor with him in the nicest possible way. More meetings to come. Picked the youngest up this afternoon and she did have a good day so small steps in the right direction. There are some good staff at the school but but there are some petty fuckers than need dragging around by their hair. Now I feel much better getting that off my chest. Sorry for the rant but it had to come out somewhere.

  25. There was a bloke i worked with years ago that commuted on the 250 in all weathers without fail, when i spoke to him about bikes he had no interest or passion for them at all, to him a bike was just cheap transport and that was it. He was a Jehovah's witness though so devoid of all emotion.

  27. Kids are always a worry.....and it never stops! And I've had numerous kids.....from numerous women! I'd have had a lot more money in my pocket over the years if I'd lived nearer the chemist in the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

  29. I went out for a 40 mile round trip to Damerells today to buy some waterproof and lined trousers for winter riding. Be churlish not to take some bike photos while I was there. I had a good look at a KTM 390, I couldn't live with the looks. I did like to the look of a BMW F800GT, I could see myself on that. Also interested to see a CF Moto 650GT, which did look rather well put together for a more budget bike. Also had a look at a Sportster, which I thought looked as cool as hell, I would never ride one but I do appreciate the look of it. Finally, I know to most of you I am a lost cause, but the bike I would have bought would have been the Ginger Interceptor. I could see myself quite happy on that. Simple, air cooled, looks and sounds good, plus plenty fast enough for an old codger like me. No plans to change at all just window shopping. I noticed that Damerells have turned over a lot of their stock from my last visit. Lot of bikes in the showroom with sold tickets on too. Pleased to see it really.

  32. I rode to the Algarve, and am now getting slightly drunk before going to my room and posting a report. Fucking winter, can’t believe I’ve eaten and am almost over with my wine and it’s still almost not even dinner time. I’ll be pretty upset if I catch britishness from here! There’s still time untill it gets deep though, sat around a place trying to get a pre meal aperitif but it was full of drunken brits at 18:30

  35. I am not in the market for a tourer now, my days of doing that are finished, been all over on my R100RS and K100RS in the past. Loved it, but done it. Still have a soft spot for Beamers though. Chap in town has a Blackbird, I appreciate that, no ambition to get one but do like it.

  37. If a job is worth doing it is worth doing twice To be fair the first time I didn't dry the clocks on the radiator overnight as Wee jaunt did. Also I didn't fit extra gasket material like he did either. Guess what my first efforts didn't work. This time though I am going to do exactly what Wee jaunt did, I have even bought the exact material he did to make the new sealing gasket.
