Nice, but I think you should model it for us! I found my Scorpion helmet to be loud on the highways...but maybe with your big head you won't notice such things......5 points

We had a spectacular thunderstorm at 2.30am this morning, none of your usual couple of flash and bangs.....the lightening was streaking across the sky, the likes of which we have only seen in Spain many years ago, but funnily is hardly rained. And after I struggled to get back to sleep, knackered now.4 points

We are away next week (weather permitting) so the scoot will be in the spare room for the duration, even there it will have a padlock and chain on it, Be easier to leave it in the (steel) shed, but shed is about as secure as a biscuit tin....can cut the steel sheets with a Stanley knife.4 points

It's a condition of my insurance here that I have an approved lock and use it! Even had to send a photo of the lock and of the sales invoice for it to the insurance. I had my bike nicked way back and I lost a lot of money on the insurance payout, so the bike gets locked, even when it's in the garage here!4 points

It's just another get out clause for the insurance feckers to rape you. Never admit to owning a lock and chain and then they can't have you over edit; @Slowlycatchymonkey beat me to it.3 points

I think the padlock thing is a complete con, in this area it makes no real difference to the premium. I rang the insurance company and asked for a quote with a lock and without, it made £7 difference. So no way I’d commit to something that would let them off the hook if I forgot it. Also asked them for a quote with and without pillion cover and that made zero difference. As insurance companies are scum I’m resigned to the idea I’d be lucky to get anything out of them. I only bother because the one thing they do is protect other drivers from your own mistakes.3 points

Tool are easier to grab and run away with and it's easy to sell tools on Marketplace, a scoot/bike not so.3 points

I finally found a new lid I could live with today for touring. When I was living in the USA I developed a real aversion to full face helmets, I have always worn a mixture of full and open face but I think wearing only open face or half helmets for seven years meant I got used to the feeling of space. Since coming back to the UK I have struggled to find anything that does not make me feel claustrophobic. I have been watching the rise of modular helmets with interest especially when homologated to use both open and closed. I had tried the Shark a couple of years ago but didn't like the fit. Today I was looking at the HJC i100 and for the first time thought I may have found something I could live with, it had good space between the chin piece and my face and is P & J homologated. The sales guy said I should try the Scorpion Exo Tech which was actually a little cheaper and as soon as I put it on I knew it was the one. It has been a long time since I put on lid like this and found it was a perfect fit. Unfortunately they even had my preferred colour so I was forced to buy it. Features I particularly like are that the chin bar ends up on the back of the helmet when open, out of the airflow, the internal sun visor goes down very low and the main visor comes with a Pinlock insert. From here on this will be my winter and touring lid. The thing I dont like is all the writing on the visor makes it difficult to see. Of fuck me, it comes off!2 points

That's what I done when they asked no security at all except when at home their in the garage made no difference to the cost of the insurance at all2 points

We normally get a lightening flash, wait 20 seconds for the thunder clap, then wait several minutes for another flash, then have four or five flashes and it's done with, pathetic2 points

We've had a couple of pretty spectacular storms over the last week. I was woken up at 4am on Friday morning by a clap of thunder that rattled the house! Struggled to get back to sleep afterwards too.2 points

Not really around here, but after having the shed broken into on Boxing Day night it's made me a bit paranoid took all my tools and could have taken the scoot if they had wanted, I now park my car right up to the shed doors each night, car alarm would sound if they tried to move it. But when we are away they have a easy way into the shed.....so it's coming in the spare room.2 points

I was given clear instructions on how to get in and what not to lean on in case it snapped off in my hand, the plastic has not aged well it seems. I couldn't have done it a few weeks ago when I had a bad back.2 points

Now most of the lanes so far had been climbs or descents over chalk or rock and they were bone dry so the next lane came as a bit of a shock. It started well with a lovely old sign just off the main road............ Then I had to hunt a bit to find the entrance as it went across someone's drive right outside of their posh house Once I got into the lane I first noticed that there was a lot of vegetation and it was very green , this ,meant that there had to be a water course underneath and that usually means boggy going. The vegetation was thick and you couldn't see the ruts underneath so there was a lot of paddling of legs to keep everything upright............... After about 15 minutes to do about half a mile I came to more solid ground (thank god) and stopped for a coffee. While I was stopped I noticed this very ambiguous sign which just about sums up how rights of way in England . It says 'Public route to Public path ' WTF is that supposed to mean ?? The next lane is a bit contentious but the gate wasn't locked today so I carried on up Everley Down. Then I cam to a new lane (to me) and found that someone doesn't want us to ride it I just rode over the pile of chalk/rubble and carried on............ Now I had to do a bit of roadwork to get down to an area of Dorset that reminds me of parts of France. It's heath type land with lots of sand and fir trees...............1 point
