  4. I think this is a similar bike, no idea how much fuel it used, but I wasn't that keen on riding the thing, there seemed to be a very narrow rev range where the engine seemed happy and it never matched the speed I was doing whatever gear I put it in. Rest of it was okay though.

  19. Touring on small country roads my bike is good for up to 60mpg. It doesn’t really care if I’m carrying luggage or not, and riding sporty doesn’t really affect it much either. Carrying a passenger also didn’t seem to affect it, but I was more gentle if with a passenger. However, motorways that goes to between 45 to 40mpg.

  23. What tym said. It's when you leave a bike standing for a while that you can have issues, otherwise it's no big deal if it's used frequently. After next month all of my bikes could be left standing for up to 6 months so I will be putting fuel stabilizer in all of them.

  24. Just checked and apparently E5 is expected to be removed from the pumps in September 2026. But only the 97 octane version! So we should get another 5 years!

  25. What year was it Bob? Cos the engine was upgraded in 2004 to the twin spark........and the G series has the same engine as the final F model in 2007. Parts are the same as that one! Except in @Buckster's opinion of course.......apparently mine has some POS Chinese version slung into it from the back of a rickshaw. No doubt prior to that it was stored in a paddy field! Just outside the Wuhan Lab! He's unable to verify any of that of course......as that would require photographs! And that's a bridge too far!

  36. I asked about it on ButtRider and I got this answer. "BMW specify all models going back many many years are compatible with E10, that includes all year models of the 650GS, that means no issues with plastics, fuel lines, seals etc so dont pay any attention to any scare stories that may be floating around, they are just misinformation I have been using Oz E10 RON 95 in my single spark Dakar for over 5 years but I have the BMSC programmed for RON95 which cant be done on the dual spark models as there is no firmware for RON95, the single spark RON91 did not like E10 RON91, it seemed to get grumpy round town. I would expect the dual spark RON91 firmware to be a lot better than the single spark firmware so I would not expect any issues to arise."
