YamaHead Posted August 19 Share Posted August 19 Spent a chunk of yesterday changing out the fuel filter on my GMC S-15 4x4 pick-up. As my prosthetic proved to be useless, I accomplished the task w/ just my abbreviated LH. Fired the beast up...runs fine at idle but still will NOT take any throttle...after replacing the in-tank fuel pump & fuel filter twice....flippin' maddening! How old is the pump...? If you haven't got fuel pressure gauges to hook up...and if it's a throttle body....Crack open the fuel return line ...making sure not to catch yourself on fire...lol At idle you should see heavy flow coming out of the return line... It is a TBI....all rebuilt. The in-tank pump is brand new...just replaced. I'm beginning to think there's some muck in the fuel tank clogging the pump. YamaHead Posted August 22 Share Posted August 22 Didn't get the led outta my arse soon enough earlier today to have another go at sorting the fuel issue....couldn't be arse'd as it reached 104f today. Don't if I'll get enough sleep tonight as it's date night w/ Mrs. Hook...we'll see. But I'll take another crack at it in the morning after I finish my daily starter fluid (java) session. I need some bar risers to raise the bars a little as the riding position is a bit far forward for me. Lovely engine… Also looked at the XR too which looked nice, just not sure I’m ready for a bike with luggage just yet. Maybe next time. I'd had an old refill canister and gauge so drilled a hole in the end and fitted a tyre valve so I could pressure up the system and find the leak. I found said leak, loaded up the car and came home only to find the canister missing. Mates had a look and he can't see it over there either. Early night I think.
