  1. It's used as just a tour train now....w/ limited trips up to the Minam river area about 15 miles away.
  2. Took a spin this morning to the Grand Ronde river while I was waiting for my front lawn to dry out from last night's dew...before I mowed it....which tore up my screwed up feet. Stopped along the way for a few qwik pics....1st @ the train station....then onto a nice wide spot directly east from place. Arrived @ the RV park to find the river looking pretty damn full....typical spring run-off. Just a couple more to make the Spanner-Phobic cringe @ the thought of that much wetness so close to his bike...
  3. I think Pete's having a Senior moment....or else he didn't get the memo....'cause this is the 2nd weekend in MAY! Loads of yard work for me....but tonight is date night w/ the Mrs...there will be Tequila involved. Riding will happen at some point as the weather is glorious right now & will be in the 80'sF by tomorrow.
  4. Otto.... I get that your passion is playing bass....but don't give up on 2-Wheelin'! I haven't rode a typical motorcycle for 12 years....& make no mistake about it, there's not a day that goes by that I wish I still could....especially after riding DAILY, year-round for 28+ years. I've learned to work with my New Normal....I rebuilt a 5.0 ltr. V8 from the crank up....finished my XT 600 SuperMoto....& am in the process as I type of finishing an XR 80r....to hand both bikes off to my 27 y/o son @ the end of this month....all with these... My point being, if you enjoyed riding anywhere as much as I do...there's still alternative options to get that 2-Wheelin' Feelin'...that's why I bought my Emtn bike. If you feel your time here is done, that's your prerogative....just don't be a stranger....NO matter what Buck says....lol
  5. It's Tequila Tuesday!....gotta be in Emmett ID tomorrow morning for Mrs. Hook's dental appointment...& the weather's improving as well.
  6. Some nice machinery!....Pretty sweet Brough SS 100....& of course can't ignore that YDS7--
  7. That's not terribly far from me....bet it goes pretty well....but kinda scary to steer!
  8. The Mrs. & I are out for a ride today as the weather looks like it'll cooperate. Kinda stoked as I received an email yesterday from my youngest boy that he & his wife will be here by the 27th from NM as they're doing a camping roadtrip visiting places like Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, Mt. Hood etc. ...haven't seen him in 4+ yrs! So my Saturday will be spent twirling spanners on the XR in re-assembly mode....& then kicking on the SuMo to bring it back to life. The goal is to have both bikes Turn-Key ready for his arrival as this will be most of his inheritance....that way he can enjoy them NOW & not have to wait until I kick the bucket & have to wade through the red tape BS, taxes, etc. that are sure to ensue w/ the way this world is evolving......on another note: Definitely gonna have a spin on the bike today.
  9. Gonna have friends over tomorrow, so I was helping the Mrs. tidy up the house a bit.... & I found a few of my long lost CD's I've been looking for! Made my day to listen to some SRV again!!...as well as some older Satch....back when he still had hair.
  10. Not quite.... I was working @ a bike shop doing mainly tire work. One day a regular well known customer that was in tight w/ the owner & a regular racer... he shows up on a PC looking for a new rear tire....the boss locates one in the back for him, but I couldn't start on the swap before he took it to the parking lot to wear out what was left of the existing rear tire..... Smoke Show from Hell!...clear down to where you could hear the chords scraping on the inner fender.....POP!! I bet the neighbors thought the shop was on fire though.
  11. Just a Bulbous Barge waiting for a spanner-phobic chap to piss & moan all over it.... Gotta admit though, I've seen 1 of those do a Mean smoke-show before.
  12. That Jota is pretty cool....but I also like that Guzzi!
  13. Lucky the pin is still there.
  14. Woke up to SNOW here on May 1st.... had to rinse the white stuff off the dish before the internet would work. Plus side-- the sun's breaking through & some blue sky is making itself known,
  15. I haven't yet....but I did discover some evidence of it...in this sweet little meadow near the creek is someones fish cleaning station...
  16. Finally got the led outta my arse & swapped seats yesterday...& since my fender set I ordered hasn't arrived yet, I fiddled w/ the dropper seat post...got it working properly & went ahead & swapped the rear fender off the Mongoose to see how it fit. It ended up working pretty well even w/ the longer wheelbase. So, off to Clark creek once again... Weather was a bit chillier this time but no rain. The ergo's were definitely improved...was able to get full leg extension now w/ the seat post @ correct height...still gotta make a slight adjustment w/ the seat pitch....nuts were feeling it on the way back....lol Found a few places this time that I hadn't noticed before, that weren't fenced off or marked w/ No Trespassing or Hunting signs that made it more accessible to the water's edge. It's a gradual climb all the way out to about the 7 mile mark....then it starts to get a bit steeper....by then I was still in 9th gear & was getting a bit knackered...(feelin' my age more & more)...lol Didn't have enough left in my tank to descend to retry in a lower gear...plus I'd used up over half the battery. I made it up just over halfway of this incline & decided to take in the views, give my legs a break for a minute, before descending as I looked for other photo op's on the opposite of the road. All in all, made it a few miles further than last time & got to test out the ergo's a bit....w/ only a few adjustments to be dialed in. I'll eventually get some more led out & get the LH electronic shifter installed & tuned in...which should make those steeper ascends a bit easier.
  17. Happiest of Birthdays you spanner-phobic old soul....may your Riding time increase much more!
  18. Hardly....he's DirtBike royalty...nothin' short of it.
  19. Been labeled as a Potcher by Pete over the years.... but again, thats coming from a guy who has a definite spanner-phobia....
  20. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do....
  21. Exactly....just a play bike for him to enjoy out it the wide open spaces of Texas where he resides. He's spent the last 3+ yrs. getting his Peruvian wife here legally...who also rides bikes....& has rounded up the parts to build her one as well. I've known the guy his whole life & have never seen him happier!
  22. My brother who's quite an accomplished spanner twirler as he's a helicopter crew chief....is also an avid spanish motorcycle fan. He's had a handful of Bultacos in the past & nowadays he's been building an Ossa 250 trials bike from scratch. Customized to fit his 6'-2" frame & following along the lines of a Mick Andrews replica. He just sent me this pic of his work in progress....I might add that he built the frame, airbox, kick start lever & pipe(next on the task list) himself, which is a pretty light package....& those gold wheels are the stock rims from my XT6 SuMo. He amazes me with his mad skills...
