1 is 23 y/o.... the other is 27 y/o...who will be here to collect his inheritance....2 motorcycles, tools & parts to keep 'em alive. The way this screwed up world is going, I'm not about to let the powers to be tax the sh*t outta him just to get what's rightfully his in the 1st place. So I'm bestowing to both of 'em all the things I have no use for anymore. Let 'em have their fun with their inheritance NOW & not have to wait for me to kick the bucket.....Pay It 4ward!! Only request I have is: Teach your kids how to Ride!! Let them know what that "Ticket To Freedom" feels like.

Got word yesterday that my grandson will be here this weekend w/ his GF....along w/ my oldest grandson showing up on Monday w/ his wife...to say the least, I'm Stoked!! When these 2 guys get together, it's a huge De Javu moment for me. Both these guys are 1st borns from my sons & are the same 3 year difference as their Dads. It's gonna be a Laugh-Fest!

I met Pete in 2003 when he took over the reigns of YOC....made it run a helluva lot better! Once he found a pic of me w/ my mullet, it was on!....I was hence forth known as the "RedNeck"...lol I think I was on about a half dozen different bike sites that he had his hand in. For years he gave me sh*t for looking like a redneck & accusing me of living in a trailer park....then in '06 I got a drafting job a 150+ miles away from where I was living....& low & behold I ended up in an RV park living in a trailer!...lol He was beside himself w/ laughter. After that summer of '06, I moved back home to Milwaukie (suburb south of Portland) & proceeded to carry on with a new-found perspective on life. I will NEVER forget the 1 time I got a phone call from him & hear his profound welsh accent...it meant alot @ the time. I then came to find out that my ancestors came from Wales to north America back in the 1600's. Through him & his bike forum savy, I've meet a lot of like minded friends from all over the world....all with 1 thing in common....2 Wheels! His "Matter Of Fact" 'tude will be sorely missed...& I truly hope he's Riding In Peace somewhere up in the heavenly's.

Yep....can't begin to tell ya how much I'd love to ride this beast again.....but alas, gonna hand it off to my boy in 1 week...who actually was the last person to ride it.

The steering issue could be your steering head bearings could need some attention.... Thats how my XT sounds & feels!...an absolute Blast....especially railing down a road like this....

Ride In Peace my old mate....you've always been good to me....I'll never forget when you called me @ home some years ago....Peach of a Human!

Looks like a hub motor....Did you have to give much for it?
-
Same size as my boat....which reminds me, gotta get busy prepping it for some camping/fishing this summer. My Dad gave it to me before he & Mom moved to MN....it's the very same boat I caught my 1st fish from when I was 6 y/o.

Letting my dinner settle before indulging in some Tequila w/ Mrs. Hook tonight. Off to the dump in the morning to empty my wheelbarrow of a truck...the garden debris never ends this time of year! Then break out my last Yamaha...(pressure-washer) & blast the eBike, car & maybe even my poor truck. Weather is cooler, windy but clear-- so a Ride is in order.

Just another KTM hiding under a different badge.... but I kinda like it.

Great patience & teaching @Saul!....I'll never forget my youngest boy getting the hang of clutch use on the XR....the grin on his face said it all. I was well chuffed when he sent me this pic of him doing a trackday on his Ninja 400 a few years back...something I always wanted to do but never quite got there...

Speedy recovery Pete....my Dad just had an arterial stent put in recently...it went quite well....hope your recovery goes as well.

Sounds rather RedNeckish tbh....

Great Ride & report Chris....no to mention a bit of a history lesson to go w/ it.

It's used as just a tour train now....w/ limited trips up to the Minam river area about 15 miles away.

Took a spin this morning to the Grand Ronde river while I was waiting for my front lawn to dry out from last night's dew...before I mowed it....which tore up my screwed up feet. Stopped along the way for a few qwik pics....1st @ the train station....then onto a nice wide spot directly east from place. Arrived @ the RV park to find the river looking pretty damn full....typical spring run-off. Just a couple more to make the Spanner-Phobic cringe @ the thought of that much wetness so close to his bike...

I think Pete's having a Senior moment....or else he didn't get the memo....'cause this is the 2nd weekend in MAY! Loads of yard work for me....but tonight is date night w/ the Mrs...there will be Tequila involved. Riding will happen at some point as the weather is glorious right now & will be in the 80'sF by tomorrow.

Otto.... I get that your passion is playing bass....but don't give up on 2-Wheelin'! I haven't rode a typical motorcycle for 12 years....& make no mistake about it, there's not a day that goes by that I wish I still could....especially after riding DAILY, year-round for 28+ years. I've learned to work with my New Normal....I rebuilt a 5.0 ltr. V8 from the crank up....finished my XT 600 SuperMoto....& am in the process as I type of finishing an XR 80r....to hand both bikes off to my 27 y/o son @ the end of this month....all with these... My point being, if you enjoyed riding anywhere as much as I do...there's still alternative options to get that 2-Wheelin' Feelin'...that's why I bought my Emtn bike. If you feel your time here is done, that's your prerogative....just don't be a stranger....NO matter what Buck says....lol

The Mrs. & I are out for a ride today as the weather looks like it'll cooperate. Kinda stoked as I received an email yesterday from my youngest boy that he & his wife will be here by the 27th from NM as they're doing a camping roadtrip visiting places like Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, Mt. Hood etc. ...haven't seen him in 4+ yrs! So my Saturday will be spent twirling spanners on the XR in re-assembly mode....& then kicking on the SuMo to bring it back to life. The goal is to have both bikes Turn-Key ready for his arrival as this will be most of his inheritance....that way he can enjoy them NOW & not have to wait until I kick the bucket & have to wade through the red tape BS, taxes, etc. that are sure to ensue w/ the way this world is evolving......on another note: Definitely gonna have a spin on the bike today.
