  1. Spent a few more hours on the Sprint this morning. When I got the bike the oil light worked but after a few starts it went out but sort of glowed when the motor was running. I didn’t worry to much it didn’t run badly at all, I thought electrical gremlin more than low oil pressure. A gamble I know but that was the choice. Anyway when I changed the clocks I put new bulbs in the idiot lights as there were some cheap LEDs in the old clocks. The oil light never worked again. I checked the oil light bulb again and it was fine. Oil pressure switch is a known weak point I was advised by the Triumph cognoscenti. So replaced that and no joy it made no difference. I got the manual out and studied the wiring diagram. Traced the wiring runs from joint to joint. All good until I checked the last one between the pressure switch to the first connector behind the battery box. So simple enough to fix, ran a new wire and replaced the connector. Covered everything in dielectric grease reassembled everything and the job was done. All technically simple enough but it took bloody ages tracking the different connections on the loom and making sense of the wiring diagram next to the bike. I got there in the end but what made it more of a ball ache was that some of the wiring colours were different to the illustration in the Triumph workshop manual. Yes I checked I was using the right diagram with the bikes Vin. Must have just been a random week that mine was built in Hinckley Works perfectly now though. Next job is to sort the low fuel light.
  2. It's the main route up through the garden, the dog is charging up and down there several times a day, it's also the main route to get my bikes put away so it's hard on the grass this time of year. You can get grow through vehicle matting to lay on the grass to stabilise it. I think I will be buying some of that soon as I don't want to take my bikes out because it's almost impossible to get them back up the path on my own they just spin up and tear the grass up more.
  3. Like the bloody Somme out there today. Going stir crazy waiting to get out on two wheels
  4. Yeah I agree, especially with T300's and their delicate spragg clutch. From what I have read well set up clean carbs and strong battery are a great way of protecting it.
  5. Good luck mate, some lovely cheap projects out there that would suit you.
  6. Well that was an hour of high tension but the carbs are back in. Won’t lie it’s not a pleasant job but doable with a bit of patience and a hair dryer to warm up the rubbers. The bike started first time on choke, came off choke reasonable quickly and once warm was able to set the tick-over to where it should be around 1050 ish. Supposed to be 950 to 1050 so no complaints. Still have to check the carb balance but to be honest it’s doesn’t seem far off IMHO. The point for me is that the bike ticks over well off choke now which it didn’t before. So for now I will take that . Still be a bit of fine tuning to come but I am a happy bunny. Still have to clean the tank out before the bike is rideable but my garden is currently like the Somme so getting the Sprint in and out isn’t easy on my own so no rush for that. Much else to do.
  7. Wow pot and kettle
  8. Started refitting the carbs today, they passed the leak test before going on the bike. Got halfway through fitting them and got called away. Hopefully get chance to do more tomorrow.
  9. Only ever been to Plymouth Harley, they weren’t good and have since gone bust.
  10. You can see how dealerships should be run in this video, never had that experience in all dealerships in this country. I am enjoying Rich and Ewa's trip in the States.
  11. That’s my end of the garden I use what I have . Making do is a weakness and a hobby of mine. . Where is the fun in throwing money rather than ingenuity, unless it’s a bike of course
  12. Well HH is a happy bunny, apparently his bike is going much better now with the new pipe, apparently the handling is on point now and the front brakes are awesome. Funny how having the right brake lever and straight forks does help . Seriously I am happy he is.
  13. Well I have been happy as a clam playing wood butchery this morning. The storm finally broke the rotten corner of my shed. It gets the brunt of the weather and is 25 years old. It wasn’t the most expensive shed when I bought it so no complaints. Anyway got my two favourite toys out and set about milling up some old fence posts and off cuts into as close as the right dimensions to do the job as I could. Before After I would have like to have done more as the roof still needs attention but rain stoped play. It is weather to tight but needs more love for a permanent fix. I want to get the whole shed insulated and ready for cladding before next payday. Going to piss down tomorrow so excellent time to tidy the shed and get the carbs back on the Triumph
  14. Ok, must have missed that detail. Three boats got caught by it, one looks fucked but the other two are save able. I am enjoying seeing how they are recovering the boats. I like every day engineering stuff like that. It’s pretty well documented on YouTube by droners. They had a Mog doing the winching yesterday
  15. Don’t think so just the embankment gave way. Looked very dramatic when it happened lucky there were no casualties.
  16. Anybody else following this boat opera.
  17. Managed to straighten the forks in between showers.
  18. Been to GT several times for breakfast. Always got a good stock of bikes. I had test ride on a z650rs a few years ago there. . They do good cafe food.
  19. To use a local phrase "He is all cock and ribs like a Zanzibar Greyhound" He reckons he can get 70mph out of it but the couple of times I have ridden with him he never got much past 60mph. I have had a couple of spins on it and it wouldn't go past 60mph with me on it but then again I reckon I am twice his weight. It's not a pristine example of the breed either. Hateful thing IMHO, Shadows is a much better bike if a little slower to accelerate. But talking about 125 performance is a bit like fleas arguing over who owns the dog, as I tell the kids loudly and often
  20. Did a few bits to How Highs bike today until rain stopped play. A very kind chap donated a box full of bits to help HH out. Of course the first thing he wanted on was the new pipe, which does look infinitely better and have a baffle. I also fitted a new front brake light switch and brake lever so Shadow could have hers back. There’s loads more to do and loads of excellent stuff to help bring the death trap back from the edge. Next job when the rain stops is to un twist the forks.
  21. The music of my childhood, love that
  22. Oil and Filter I guess
