I just want something like I had back in the day for bimbling about. I had a spiffy red CB200 with a Polaris fairing which was, to be fair, dog shit slow compared to my mates 250's so it had to go. But I have always hankered after another for mooching about on, to ride the same roads that I used to. I thought I could have been on Ch1p's with that fairing given how rare faired bikes were back then. I actually really liked my CB200 as a bike and thought it was cool, which it was after getting off a Suzuki AP50. Nostalgia is a strong pull, I often find myself riding the same route and roads home that I used to when I was a teenager. I often do those routes on my CBF and though it's a stodgy old commuter in modern terms, but it feels like the best bike ever on those routes because it is in a different league to what I rode back then. My Dream bike then was a Suzuki GS550 like a couple of mates had, in direct comparison the CBF is worlds better IMHO.

Oh dear You are quite an eloquent drunk though

That my friend is a Polaris fairing. Recognise that brand by any chance.

Nostalgia is a strong pull, there was a time when that was an aspirational bike. Looked a sounded like a big bike when we had no hair in our chins.

Sound like the makings of a film.

We haven't had a lot of shitty weather yet, much easier to keep it clean in the summer

14 BHP is sort of self explanatory, just enjoyed having one back in the day and always wanted a green one, People spend thousands on FS1E's and they are 2.5 bhp, they don't buy them for the grunt.
-
Probably, 14 BHP or so, no rocket. But it is green.

Vert tempted by this. Retro look modernish reliability and performance. https://www.tradebikesdirect.co.uk/used/bikes/triumph/adventurer/900-1995-29k-retro-classic-bike-new-mot-serviced-900cc-triple-3432#email-vehicle

Best weather protection I had was my 1978 BMW R100RS, that bathtub fairing was excellent. To be fair my CBF600S with a touring screen isn't at all bad but the BMW was king with two bloody great cylinders keeping your feet warm and dry.

Spot on, I feel the cold because of the heart meds I’m on. I got the right thermal gear to wear but it’s not always convenient to change out of it at work so I appreciate it’s difficult for our friend with Reynards to ride to work in the colder months. She will be better off when she passes her test and can get something with more protection to ride. Her little CBR is good as 125s go but not ideal for cold weather commuting.

The hot grips were a birthday present for my daughter’s friend who I got through her CBT. She is a genuine keen biker who sufferers from Reynard’s Syndrome so gets very cold extremities. Perfect gift I thought from our family to her as she commutes to Truro so genuinely needs them.

If you got the cash get a Jacket and trousers with a Gortex liner. Near perfectly waterproof bu pretty spendy. I have a Richa textile jacket and trousers with a D3O or some list of letters like that liner and I have never got wet in it. My leather isn’t very waterproof at all neither are the two wax cotton jackets I have. Bike jeans obviously not. I also have single layer romper like rain suit Richa brand and that is a leaky bastard good at stopping wind though.

I didn’t mean that to come across as a pop at you. I probably worded it clumsily. Sorry

I don’t think there is a chance of hunting deer or boar replacing factory farming. There are just too many people on this planet. It’s not sustainable long term and the future will be unpleasant for the majority of life. I understand hunting for food but not for entertainment. Oh and I don’t like factory farming either but don’t claim to have an answer to feed 8 billion people. It’s one of those subjects most look away from. Doesn’t justify animal cruelty but there is no easy answer.

I work in rural Cornwall overnight, little to no street lighting for the majority of the roads. Good lights are important here. One big part of the reason I got rid of my Himalayan was the piss poor lights. I could make good use of the extra lighting on my CBF for my work commute. Although the lights are good as standard with legal LED bulbs more would be better. Not essential but better. The Hornet LED lights are also good but really only just adequate, could be improved.

Probably company policy to save fuel or something like that.
-
Yeah I have thought about that option, got a couple of links to get one just haven’t got around to it.

I know it’s GS Owner prices, those lights also need a Can bus adapter to work so that is another £170 on top of the £900. Very impressive lights nonetheless. I’ll wait for cheaper chinky clones to come on the market.
