  1. So probably only a quarter of the route consisted of off road (lanes) Yes there is a chance to open it up on the straight bits where you have good vision but you always have to be mindful of horse riders , walkers etc.
  2. Have you got Grandchildren @Buckster ?
  3. Nice work Fred, that should stop it wearing anymore
  4. A few more lane were done on the way back, I only covered 67 miles but probably 20 lanes and tracks were done on this route. Best of all the front suspension is working just fine now with the new fork leg and 10w oil instead of the original 5w.
  5. You really don't want to carry on down that lane through this in your Ford Fiesta............. A few more lanes were done in lovely weather if a bit breezy ............. When I got to Ubley Drove there were a couple of guys on CRF Rally's who were sawing a tree that was blocking the lane ............. I rode on up to the top and then came back down again to get to Harptree where a stopped for a pint ...............
  6. I had a chance to get out on the WR250 today and I was keen to see what the front suspension was like now. I didn't get away until 11.00 am so I decided to do the local lanes starting at Keynsham. The first lane is always a good test as you ride uphill over baby-head size rocks ............. First test passed and on we go to some more lanes nearby .............. On Featherbed lane I noticed some new signposts, I'm pretty sure peeps have been trying to cut through here by following their sat navs to avoid queues on the A37,,,,,,,,,

  17. A couple of months ago I put new fork seals on the WR but after a couple of rides the O/S fork started leaking again. I got Garry who does my MOT's to have a look and he pointed out vertical scoring on the leg , that wasn't allowing the seal to do it's job. Parts for this bike are fairly rare in UK , I wondered if the forks from a WR250F (enduro) would fit but they need work to do the job and it was more than I wanted to do so I bit the bullet and ordered a new fork tube, along with bushes and a fork seal. So up on the ramp again and the fork was removed.......... Once you get the cap off you need two spanners to remove the leg .................. and then I drained the oil overnight .................. Once the parts arrived (nearly three weeks ) , I took the fork leg into work as we would need to fabricate a tool to remove the damper rod . My boss is a wizz at making suitable tools ............ I cleaned up the damper rod and valve and then fitted those parts to the leg, new on the left , old on the right .......... Back home this morning I set about fitting the new bushes and seal, the Motion Pro seal driver was employed for the job.......... the air gap was measured with my trusty steel rule and then everything was button up ........ and now I have another freebie Japanese mechanic key ring from CMSNL
  18. As Pete would have said , Top box makes you a Rugged Indidvidualist, a Tour Pak doesn't ..........
