Hummus, vegetarian Paella and some greens. Terrible picture because @Pedro was not there... He was very much missed! Not just to take the picture, also to share a good glass ( or bottle!) of wine, good convertation and his compliments at the end! ?

Prince Philip was a motorcyclist, so I found this week. Shoulnd surprise us that was the case, he was passionate about anything motorised. Its a mark of who he was that he could have chosen any vehicle to carry his coffin and he chose the Defender, the no fuss, no messing, just simply working vehicle from farmers to Marines. I have always been a great fan of Prince Philip, from his humour to his dedication to everything he did. Coming from a broken family myself, with many ups and downs, total unpredictability and tough love, I related to the hardening of a childs spirit into the "get on with the job" approach no matter what. At the end of the day, what really matters is how good we were to others while we lived and how big is the legacy we leave behind. He sure did a good job, I wish I could be 1/10 as good. God Save the Queen!

Went for a ride on Bagheera today. It was sunny and unseasonably warm already. ? They had just put down some fresh gravel and the grader was out working, getting the roads ready for the logging trucks. This all meant the gravel was thick, dry and loose.....super slippery and DUSTY!!!! I'm working on a short video from the day, but here is an example of the dust...

Talking of abandoned places I really want to go back and have a gander in one the student nursing accommodations we had. Is was a beautiful mansion built by a philanthropist for use as an orphanage. We were the last cohort to use it finishing in 1997. The govt then got into a row with the locals about using it as a home for paedophiles and its been left to slowly derelict since. Its still covered by hospital security staff but that doesn’t stop it rotting. It turned up on a few ‘abandoned places’ websites a while back, these pics are a good 5-7 years old, dread to think what it looks like now. Such a waste and quite sad if you knew how alive and loved it was.

I really like the Dunlop Trailmax Missions on my bike. On my third or fourth set now. Great mileage and they're not overly pricey (at least not here). They work well enough on dirt and don't hop around or hum too much on tarmac.

I figured that much about China. A shame as the place is magical. Maybe one day I will go with a guide just to visit some places I am very interested in there. Tajikistan is just another world within our world and so foreign to me. The landscape is unimaginable and the lack of humans or anything of the sort is very alluring to me. The place just calls to me, it is one of those things that can be hard to explain. Mongolia should be on my list too. ?

There are Urbex FB sites for Spain.....but I've never really bothered with them because all that type of stuff is always in the north.

I’m surprised it wasnt handed over to them but its probably a bit far gone for their budget now. Just had a look on ‘28 days later’ and its no longer salvageable. Floors have fallen though and its thoroughly rotten. Shame to let a beautiful grade II listed building end up that way. If anyone likes abandoned places 28 days later has some good ones on there. Is there a 28 days later type of website for Spain?

No chance of China without a guide. Rode in Tibet 2019 (which for anyone not interested in global politics is ruled by China) and the control exerted by the govt is quite a surprise. Guides are obligatory, map pages had to be removed and destroyed, multiple military check points on a single road where they go through your bags yet again, on tarmac road you have to slow to 5mph for gantry cameras (I assume because their number plates are so tiny it wouldnt be able to pick up the number plate above that speed), your route has to be pre approved and then you can only stop for fuel at the places they have said you can and can only have the amount of fuel they calculate you need to keep you on the pre approved route which is brought to you in a jerry can so you don’t take more than necessary to get to the next stop. Still worth a visit though, the guides and the Tibetans are lovely people! Tajikistan is an unusual pick what’s the draw to that one?

Considering I have not had the opportunity to be far from home in awhile, it is very hard to pick one dream trip at the moment. Soooo... I am going to bend the rules a bit and pick my top 5. Please forgive my indulgence. #5 - Tajikistan ?? #4 - China ?? (Without a guide/chaperone, which I am not sure is allowed) #3 - Scotland ??????? #2 - Peru ?? #1 - Across my own beautiful country, Canada, coast to coast to coast, so the saying goes! ???

Not anymore! Heyho, we were lucky enough to catch the tail end of an ideology some employers had that you look after your staff. Similar to the military, accommodation was provided, housekeepers kept the place working and changed the linen and you worked all the unreasonable hours necessary whilst doing precisely what you were told when you were told to do it ? Why they couldn’t find another use for it I dont really understand.

I dug a tunnel once, i caught a hillsbourgh country tractor doing canal maintenance. The thing was stuck for days behind my house in Tampa. iMade a better trap than a tunnel to be honest. ?

The trans sibierien, Vladivostok - Moscow has been my dream trip since I was about 6. originally wanted to do the train ride but once I got riding I've wanted to do it by bike. The dream is not dead, but it gets a litle less likely with each passing season and then I came across some aussi dude who rode it as part of Sydney to London, alone, at 70 something and the lights go back on... more realistically, I have a fully planned route for a trip visiting all the capital cities of the schengen area. 21 cities 30 days 10900km +/- 3500€ budget 'soon as I can sell a child or 2 ... ?

I can't help noticing that the only Ride Report from those members who came in from another forum has come from @Richzx6r. Let me explain the problem here.......It's going to look like a bunch of Casuals have followed me here from the other place......and that's not going to help my street cred! I need every bit I can get at my age! But before you think you're being singled out (you're not......things don't work that way on this forum).....we also haven't seen one yet from @Buckster! Who's been here a year! The newer members have been here 3 months, but it's also been Winter, plus Covid restrictions have been in place! So there are mitigating circumstances! So if the newer members do get labelled as Casuals, I think we need to acknowledge that Buck is truly "The King of the Casuals". And @Six30......I'm waiting for one from you in particular! You need to show you've got more strings to your bow than just being a Forum Troll!
