  1. Also had a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger when I was a kid. This thing towed motocross bikes on a trailer all across the Midwest USA when I was racing back then...

  3. I promise I dont post from the point of view of a male with arrested development ? but I have rewritten a few posts I think might set you off ? When I joined the forum that shalt not be named in 2018 I kept quiet about being female cos I know where some lovely gents minds immediately go and it can mess things up, then after about 6 months someone who knew me outed me as being female, you can ask @Six30 he thought I was a bloke right up to the point I went on my sabbatical ? I then got 4 different guys from the forum pm’ing me and emailing me in fairly strong pursuit and I dont blame them for having a go, they wanted a biking bird so why not have a punt but for me it was a right PITA cos some can get nasty when you say no thanks. Some other guys were just nice n normal n friendly (like here) but some of them.... jeez. But its good here, just the normal type of weirdos ?

  7. Our cars in the '70's were fast as a scalded dog in a straight line, but had no brakes or turning abilities. That's why drag racing is so popular here. My older brother had 2-3 Ford Mustang Mach 1's when we were kids. They did last too long due to interactions with fence posts, ditches, other vehicles, etc. He always had new cars as he bought them himself - they cost about $3,500 new back then. Worth 15 times that today.

  8. After the demise of the T/A, I had a Fiat X-1/9. The single biggest turd of a car in history. Had it for about a year and it caught on fire twice!

  9. 1970 Pontiac Trans Am - I had one in 1975. 450 bhp car that had virtually no brakes in the hands of a 16 year old. What could possibly go wrong?

  10. Difference here is we respect the ladies Caroline. You, @Sofia, and @Grasshopper's Ride are probably not aware of it but we're very protective of female members. Also, there will never be any ganging up as you've encountered elsewhere, and no weirdos will PM you. If an outsider started getting disrespectful to you you'd find that the whole forum would turn on them en-masse. Along with @Tym making death threats of course! Yes....there will be some smutty double entendres, Bruce's ass, and on occasion my pubes! But that's just lavatorial humour.......which is poles apart from creepy behaviour.

  14. Today's sunny ride on Charlotte inspired this thread, as with the nice weather the classic cars are coming out to play. ?. There are a lot of them around where I live and I love seeing them, with all their cool colours and shapes. ? Here are a few from today. ?

  15. We are about a hour away from our Easter feast. The turkey should be ready in about an hour. Since it's only Lynne and I this year we only bought a small 12 pound one. We are having my famous chorizo sausage and pecan stuffing, roast carrots and turnips along with garlic roast potatoes. Yum! Happy Easter Everyone.

  27. Sadly our flag is a bit ruined for me. Its associated with the lowest form of knee jerk racism masquerading as patriotism. I wish there was a way to claim it back. When I read or see other countries having some pride or joy in where they come from (like Pedro) I feel a bit cheated, like we’d all benefit from a bit of being happy about where you come from. The Welsh and Scottish are but I’m English so it comes with the territory to spend time apologising for what other arseholes have done in the past! Heyho I settle for being happy I’m from Somerset instead, perhaps a Somerset dragon ? ?

  28. That's great Caroline! Most of us on here have met others over the last 20 years......though nobody has met everybody if you get my drift. And everybody is as they appear on here.....there's no false internet personas! So basically, what you see is what you get!

  31. Being a mechanic I could deal with what ever went wrong but you can only weld so much before the structure is compromised. Now a mini with its current value is prob worth throwing some money at.

  32. I too love the old minis. We still look after a couple at the garage. That rubber suspension doesn't do my back or fillings any favours now, don't think I'd own one again. We got this just before its 3rd birthday and it did everything asked of it. I scraped it after 19 years service as the metal worn was doing its work. Nothing but a run of the mill family car but all the family loved it, especially me.

  33. The Mini Cooper S Love what they represented, how they came about and that despite all their faults theyre really fun to drive, more like a dodgem than a car. Love how they arrived on the rally scene and frightened the competition. Had two old minis, one countryman and one clubman. Neither liked to start if it was raining and required a very specific amount of choke, throttle and correct timing to get them started, mess it up the first time and you were going to be sitting around for a looooong time while it decided when it was gonna start. Loved them both. Id like another one really but the price of them now is ridiculous.

  34. I guess boxes are usefull, i miss my 68 442 rag top, butt, it wasnt such a great car to be honest, unless you like getting 6mpg @ 100mph. This 84 325e gets 27 mpg at 100mph, when i feel like it i;ll get her back on the road.

  37. Yep and I had one I was forced to get rid of. My in laws were busy throwing their weight around and said I couldn’t keep it in the yard (even though there are shit loads of vehicles in the yard) just cos they wanted it to play stupid power/dominance games. So I let a guy who works in the yard have it (for free) and the final sting was they let him keep it in the yard...... and his children used to drive it around the field outside my house. So I had to see other peoples kids ragging my mini around the fields but I wasnt allowed to keep it. Arseholes. Needless to say I have nothing to do with them now (I tried to make it work for years) but their desire to push me around was demonstrated in many very unpleasant ways so fuck ‘em, nasty pieces of work, still sad about my mini though.

  40. I really need to get shot of my current car. Bristol is banning diesel vehicles from the centre soon and other cities are following suit so its not practical to hold onto it. But I cant part with it either, its our family car and I’m stupidly attached to it. Its also started costing me money as bits break. My head is shouting SELL IT NOW MORON, my heart is saying no its fine, wait a little longer ??

  44. What Tym said! Because sometimes things are going on behind the scenes that you don't know about. All I'm interested in is the wellbeing of this forum.....it's the Last Chance Saloon for all of us. It's the only thing that stands between us, and spending the rest of our lives on the mind numbing experience that is Facebook! Or in the cases of @boboneleg and @Pedro, losing contact with their old friends again. So on that basis I consider it worth protecting!

  48. I do indeed!! Thanks to @Pedro the bike has some very cool protection and Im now a very happy bunny!! Some might argue the bars are over the top, but to us they are cool and Im sure this will become a new trend!! the manufacturer actually match the color from pictures and its like they were always there. Also thanks to Pedro for the pictures, all my best images are Copyright @Pedro!! the bike feels a lot lighter, probably due to the new stearing bearings. Its also much nicer to ride with the new levers from TWM that were recommended by Jack Lilleys and found by Pedro in Porto, thanks again. Im a trully blessed motorcyclist!! Hit his bike and he not only forgives me but finds ways to make my bike better!! Dont have any words left to thank @Pedro . ? so like many times happens in life something that seamed bad, turned out to be a great improvement to the behaviour of the bike! as for me, still not found my confidence back, but it will come!!
