Rocker breathers

I had time today so I fitted the new rocker breathers, rear cylinder is a pain because of clearance with the frame so I had to get a 7/16 torque extender which I ended up ordering from the states. Anyway the new style breathers assemblies which were gifted to me by Edinburgh Harley Davidson solved some of the clearance issues. Hopefully no more oil guffing into the air filter for a few thousand miles.

First the rear cylinder, removing the old breather.

Then the front cylinder.

It all looked nice and clean in there which is a good sign.

Gaskets looked okay but I fitted new ones anyway, put it all together and warmed the motor up and no leaks so jobs a good one.

Couldn't do a test ride as the mot ran out yesterday, I must make a note on the calendar. Going in on Tuesday morning for that.

He doesn’t understand reflections, he can’t use mirrors because gingers don’t have a reflection.

Update!

This definitely improved things as in reduced the amount oil in the air filter but didn’t cure it completely.

Last week I saw that S&S had come up with anew breather design that they officially say significantly reduces oil blow past in the breathers, unofficially they say it cures it completely so on impulse I reached out and bought a set which they discounted for me.

I got them yesterday. They ooze quality but hopefully not oil. I will fit them next week.

Was at John place the other day after he replace the missing plug ...and added oil to the engine and gave it a go...the engine starts ok , sounds ok..but oil is shooting like 4 feet from the two vent lines coming from the top of the heads...hasn't look further...its either the scavenger gears broke off or the vent reeds have completely blown off...not sure what you call those exactly...

Sounds more like the oil return feed is blocked.

When you say 4 feet down you mean a few inches? You know how you exaggerate, like when you claim to be tall.
