Did you remember to reconnect the tank sender, just incase it's also a pump.

Yes I cleaned the multi plug on the tank and reinstalled it, took the plugs out, there is a spark, and there is a smell of petrol when I crank it over, but will still not start.

In recent weeks  I have reversed onto the road, turned car off, then i came out a couple of minutes later and it took quite a bit of cranking to get it to start.

Will have another look tomorrow, hope the weather plays ball.

It could well be the flux capacitor... they are a known dacia fault. 

In other news is the spark weak or strong?

It has a good spark on each spark plug.... and good compression too...

I know it sounds silly but with the gauge not working is there fuel in the tank?

blocked fuel filter?

Or its a dodgy sensor somewhere possibly? Maybe cam sensor?

Sounds flooded, floor the throttle and keep it turning.
Sometimes when the plugs get wet it travels through to the lambda prob. I've had to take it and the plugs out to dry off.

Yes there is, I put £30 of the finest E10 in the tank the day before I looked at the tank sender.  

I did have trouble with a sensor in the past, car would start OK, but would not pull from slow speed.
