How to fuck up a Shad box!

This top box, thought it works fine, is pretty battered due to bad parking in Granada city centre.

Scraped all over the place and even a chunk missing out of the lid itself......though you've got to look hard to see it.

So I thought I'd see if I could make it look a little less shit before I pulled the trigger on a new one.

Here it is in it's normal state........

So I masked around it and stuck it on top of the bird bath in the garden.

The I gave it it's first coat of black......sort of bubbling a bit at the moment so I've left it to bake dry in the sun before applying a second coat.

I'll update you when I've done the second coat! It may look less shit......or maybe again it may look more shit!

My money's on more shit I have to say.

The wife said it looked like shit so gave me something to rub it down with......a sanding block apparently.

So I rubbed it down and it looked like this!

Then it was another coat of paint.....

So definitely looking better.

I'm going to leave it now till we come back from the horses, then another rub down in a few spots and another coat of paint.

Did you sand the plastic before you started or use a plastic promoter?

No......I just blasted away with the can! :classic_laugh:

The thing is I thought it was pretty knackered anyway (piece of lid broken off too) so it was no great loss if it all went belly up.

Should have primed it first Pete with plastic primer, very light sanding and then the top coat.  Anyway, it doesn't look too bad to me.

Couple more coats tomorrow and see how it looks then Bob.

But it's certainly better than when I started......cos I was expecting to bin it.

The expression "like watching paint dry" never had such a match for a thread as this.

We're a low class, low quality motorcycle site Pedro.......so I'm trying up the quality a bit.

Not sure if this will help but beggars can't be choosers.
