  1. does it film 360 all the time and then you edit it, or does it turn, randomly or otherwise? It's certainly interesting but some of the angles are a bit odd, at one point it looks like you're riding sideways somehow, which I can see would bother some people. always good to play with different stuff though ?
  2. The far west of the Yonne department., and the last of the cardinal points. Lovely spring day so after lunch, I took the thermal liners out of jacket and trousers, togged up and headed west to the D14 between Rogny Les Sept Ecluses and Fleury at 47:43'24"N, 02:50'56"E Still no leaves on the trees yet, but the hawthorn is flowering in the hedgerows and some of the smaller flowers are starting to appear nice little country cottage Due to the nice weather there were more people about than normal and Rogny Les Sept Ecluses being a popular historical landmark there were plenty cyclists, walkers, dog walkers, horse riders and even Bikers ( there was even some froggy twat on a harley complete with cut off full of badges, some fictional mc logo and rockers on the back along with a confederate flag... I know some people in the UK who would not have hesitated to tear a strip off a knob like that... I decided I couldn't deal with people and decided to just ride on and out to the very western edge of the departement 5 kilometres further on here I wouldn't want to have to ride this road after dark at the moment, the curned up earth along the verge by the bike is wild boar damage and it looks like there was half a herd of them somebody told me that wild boars eyes dont reflect light like a deer's do and they being black, you don't see them 'till you hit them and they weigh like 80 to 110kilos so you'd know if you hit one! I managed to grab a pic of the seven lock flight ( les sept écluses) at Rogny on the way back but as I didn't have my camera ( todays shots on I-phone only) it came out shitcos I was trying to avoid people so had to zoom in and had the sun in my eyes. I wanted a pic just so's I could make a cap joke about "Lockdown" but the pic is too crappy to support further ridicule. 150km all round and ended up at the jet wash for a hose down.
  3. nice! there wer some strange camera angles in the vid though, how do you pilot that camera whilst riding?
  4. @XTreme you mean you got DIRT on those tyres Pete... ? Good job! ?
  5. today, still no leaves on the trees...
  6. Glad you're not hurt Michelle. One of the drawbacks of youtubing must be that when you do drop it, you can't play the " Nobody saw it so it doesn't count" card. Also good to see that your "significant other" or " partner" or whatever did the right thing and took pics befrore helping to pick the bike up?
  7. I have never felt the need to drag my knees ( though I've been dragging knuckles for years) and can see no point in doing so (other than on a race track). given that I imagine only about 1 or 2 % of riders will ever ride on a circuit, and probably only about half of those competitively, I struggle to see how any of the above information could possibly be considered something " Every rider should know" or am I just being pedantic?
  8. yeah, cos it's not made in england... actually it IS the best one to have because it is statistically the most effective and generates the least reactions and side effects. Wifey gets it cos she works in the health industry and I get it cos im under 55 and "at risk" due to various health factors.
  9. 3rd part of the Cardinal points of the Yonne department attainable by road. The Southen most road accessible point in the department was always going to be fun because it is obviously in the heart of the Morvan Natural Parc which is a riding nirvana at any time and though not particularly warm today, around 10 or 12 degreesm the sun was shining so I early lunched and headed out. Southern most point is on the D10 between Quarré Les Tombes and Dun Les Places, right in the heart of the Forét du Duc at 47: 18'41"N 04:0'13"E. I was more than a little surprised to discover an Island... finally got there, to within a few yards turned around, and rode home along here a little bit of dirt I nearly fell off when I saw this, anybody read ( or seen the film) "Into the Wild" ? I thin kit's actually being, or has been used as a hunting cabin, but I didn't hang around too long cos I could faintly hear Banjo's tuning up...? Thought I'd throw in a Chateau for those from the new world who like that sort of thing 205km all told, and it went something like this
  10. Mrs MooN got her jab ( pfizer) this morning. I'm due mine ( also pfizer) 1st April... obviously ?
  11. to be fair, I think we all are...
  12. never yet seen a pretty topbox, not my fault. Even the old red and white ne I used for years on the tralp was not pretty... practical for sure, but never pretty. ( and yours is better now its all black)
  13. 135€. per person. so potentially 270€ + 40 odd € autoroute + 50€ petrol + 6 hrs driving for nothing if we get refused on arrival in Lyon.
  14. had planned a lightning trip to Lyon to see bro in Law before we get locked down again but I've had the rug pulled out from under me by shutting down Lyon before us! As per usual, my case doesen't fit in any of the boxes that need to be ticked, there's plenty info on being allowed to visit old people in nursing homes for their mental health, that's fine but he's only 37 and its not a retirement or nursing home. There's provision made for visiting handicapped people who are vulnerable or isolated. he's not isolated or vulnerable cos he's in a home.... there is no mention made of being allowed, or not, to visit a handicapped adult in a medicalised care centre. If I can't do that I'll go riding again before they take that away too.
  15. not tourism itself but the mighty dollar, for the vast majority of people today, money and profit are clearly and openly more important than anything else you'd care to mention. Making more money is paramount, almost any means is acceptable so long as you make more money, it is no longer a means to an end but has become an end in itself,
  16. yeah cos our departement still isn't on the "lockdown that isn't a lockdown" list. I reckon it's only a matter of time though and then we'll be restricted to 10km from home. ( unless justifiably work related)
  17. top boxes nearly always look shit on a bike, mine's fucking huge and looks horrendous, but it ain't halfp practical - - - yeah but it looks shit - - -yeah but it's practical - - and so on...
  18. they've just shut down the Rhone, Nievre, and Aube departements, so we, the "Yonne" are now closed in on 3 sides ( plus a narrow corridoor into the saone et Loire. Travel between regions is banned except for professional purposes or family imperatives, which you must beable to justify. this for 4 weeks, so that's fucked the easter hols then.
  19. nearly as old as some of he codgers on here... its all very medievel, or what is still there today is, Noyers belonged to the duke of Burgundy as far back as 1240 something, before that it was the ancestral seat of the Miles family but the earliest recorded settlement there dates back to the Sequani, a pre romain tribe of Gauls.
  20. well I'm glad ny pics have some effect, maybe I should be getting paid by the tourist board? That road, however, is actually tarmac, old and worn perhaps but a mettalled road non the less.
  21. continuing the Cardinal points of the Yonne departement with the Eastern most point accessible by road: Desperately getting some riding in before we get shut down again... The eastern most point of the Yonne is on the D186 between Jully and Fotaine les seches ( which is in the Cote D'or departement but has a Yonne postcode...bizarre!) 47:46'38"N 04:20'04"E Round trip of 130 odd km, took nearly 3 hours with lots of little windy back roads. The trip to the east edge was more interesting than to the north with wide open vistasalternating with the eternal forest roads. Surprisingly few vinyards though as the route skirts the southern edge of the Chablis region through the Tonnerois area. Destination point was prettier too but no sign or marking of any kind to actually show the boundary like they do on the major roads. This is it, to within a few meters : everything in front is "Cote D'or" and behind is "L'Yonne" ( I like this pic) I was running ut of fuel, having not refilled since yesterday's Northwards jaunt, so googled the nearest fuel point and headed there at Ancey le Franc. From there rode home via Noyers sur Serein got home just in time to pick up a call from N01 daughter aho'd managed to rip the rear bumper half off her car whilst picking her sisters up from school... ho hum... nice afternoon out though, but temps are rising and it's getting to that stage where the flies are back out, you really want thermal gear on whilst actually riding but the minit you stop you drown in your own sweat...
