  1. Finally got around to sorting out the noisy inner primary bearing. It's not a difficult job but means removing the entire primary, I wanted to inspect the Dark Horse motor sprocket I fitted in place if the old compensator anyway and make sure the old deflector was still in place on the inside of the cover as it has been 1500 miles since I fitted those. The Dark Horse and deflector all looked good, unfortunately one of the starter bolts wouldn't come out, the allen head was buggered. I started drilling it but looking at the head I had an epiphany and sure enough one of my cam driven stud pullers fitted it so it came out nice and easy. At that point I went to get my bearing race puller and after turning the shed upside down I couldn't find it. Last time I used it was ten years ago in Georgia. I started to think maybe it was still over there. So I put the bike away while I figured it out. Found the tools this morning after two minutes of looking, they were under the bed of course. Hopefully get most of it done this evening.

  3. Trip over to Newquay and Project 83 this evening. Like a warm summers day. with a couple of mates, Andy on his Thruxton and Martyn on his V85TT. Nice to have all modern bikes for a change and not have to wait for the vintage bone shakers. Family parking

  5. Drove to ID & back today- about 340 miles....through sun, rain & snow...crazy weather this spring-- The Elkhorns were beautiful though... Full truckload of Mrs. Hook's stuff...tomorrow we'll unload it all into the garden shed, so she'll have everything here right in our backyard w/ an extra $80 in her pocket every month from now on.

  7. My old XS750 great bike until it seized on the middle cylinder, I don't remember any thing until I came round with my hand hanging off and 2 lovely looking girls asking if I was all right. My cat in the photo had the right idea.

  9. Stupidly I'm still riding it instead of fixing. Bit short on time at the mo and it's the only one currently with road tax. I'm thinking of stripping and running off a remote tank so I can have a proper pull about while ticking over. I'll get into it one day but keep throwing in the ideas. Oh, and I seem to be getting a little fork leak on the other side now.

  18. Another one i had with mine when it was cutting out for no reason was a broken loom around the headstock. Got to the bottom of it when it would only run when going straight or turning left. If i remember right there was a bunch of commons all crimped together and wrapped up in the loom, one cable had corroded off

  22. Took the dominator to Oulton Broad yesterday to check on the Rover I've been playing with only to remember the keys were in my car. Gave it an angry throttle full on the way home only to loose power and see the rev counter drop to nothing. Got down to about 10 MPH before all was well again. Spent the rest of the trip home behaving myself but pull every wire/plug I could get near. Think this is going to be another strip down for a look see.
