I once couldn’t walk for three days due to a very heavy handed epidural. I couldn’t understand on day two (when the opiates were really not suppressing the appetite any longer) why I was just so bloody hungry and why there was no food. Eventually very starved I dared ring the bedside bell to be told food is served down there… when couldn’t friggin walk!
They then transferred my care back to a much maligned hospital that treated me so nicely, kindness and food and dignity. Never forgot the difference hospitality makes to recovery. You can work with the finest minds and the best medical people and compromise a persons recovery with the basic silly things.
