  1. Every year except this year. the door has been slammed. Luckily, last year the door was partially ajar although I was forced to be very careful about where I stayed. Germany, Italy and most unlikely of all Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein. a place that will go down in memory. A campsite with its own restaurant, where a starter cost (minimum) €25 and a bottle of Erdinger €7 Less said about that the better. Highlight.. was the most banal thing. Though a first for me. Crossing the Danube by ferry. and then looking back at the Bavarian mountains that border the Czech republic. sad git me.

  2. Beach ride report, my third most favorite parking spot, makes for a dramatic entrance in front of all the soccer momming mini vanners. Artsy fartsy beach pic ATGATT? right, if you;re a squidly Shirley.

  3. Some soft medical professionals would suggest ointments but the hardcore simply shave the infected area off with a cheese grater, rash removal 100% guaranteed.

  4. Yes.. everyone else. (I normally take a small group) had to drop out, mostly due to paranoia about possible enforced quarantine on return. In the event that never happened. I was totally honest. I crossed countries that were 'on the list' like Austria. And although I went into the Czech republic, briefly. I didn't stop anywhere public. and after a couple of hours was back in Germany. It was nice, after so many years taking groups to be on my tod. off the leash (so to speak) nice.. but not the same. I used the time to reccy for next year.. when we will be heading down to Austria and into the Dolomites.

  11. Go on, spend some money!......live a little. My dash cam, I can't keep it on the windscreen for more than 2 days.........just falls off. Can't get the vids off the dash cam.......fooking Halfrauds crap.

  12. The bracket holding my Drift cam on my helmet bust today......it was always pretty flimsy. So no more vids for a while......and it's a case of send off and wait for another bracket (which could break again) or just go for a Go-Pro.

  14. How lovely to see you here. What with you being an intelligent man you may find it difficult to sink low enough to enjoy yourself though, try a large glug of whisky and letting rip, seems to work for everyone else So it’s all off for this year then? Ive been checking in every week or so but have been a bit busy so don’t know what the score is. I’ll have a look later. Nice avi, nice panniers, nice bike, great pics.

  15. No , that doesn't happen but it doesn't like this heat. I have a nice heat rash on my stump now

  16. I was wondering whether the heat expands your leg Bob? You know....like one leg is your normal height and the other one is about a foot taller?

  27. I think the T700 is going to be the next transalp everyone seems to have them now as they seem to be good at everything. The TRF big bike ride i was looking at earlier had 9 bikes on it, 4 were T700's and when i was coming back from north wales a week or so ago i counted 17 of them going in the opposite direction all covered in dirt. Although now i think of it they might have been from the yamaha off road experience it was up that way

  38. So......the question is.....who are you really? You're obviously under a different alias so as not to incur the wrath of the powers that be on another forum. I have my suspicions though! What you say @Clive?

  39. Diolch yn fawr as my 'gone native' brothers and sisters would say. I'm here because Im missing implausible tales of rugged individualism and pictures of bikes in rundown or, more usually ruinous railway stations. and that. Better late than never.

  45. I would have no doubt on taking one on any kind of big trip, one of the most solid engines ever, and although it isn’t strong on power I do think it is very nice to ride.

  46. First bike and big bike, Transalp 650, I would totally recommend one, had great fun on mine. There might be better bikes to ride today, and more frugal too, but the Transalp is oldschool dependable.

  47. First big bike xj900, this one, and under the cove on the right my next one, zzr1100, I would recommend both.
