Saul
A you can imagine Fowey and Polruan being either side of the same river has always had a bit of banter between them. To us on the righteous side we view them as Polly Roosters from Little Russia that the sun never touches before mid day. Anyway day off not raining so time for a bimble. First I caught the Bodinnick car ferry across the river. Fecking £3.70 one way. If you look up to the left you can see the latest Omaze raffle house. I think the whole town has bought a ticket for that. Apparently worth 4.5 million. If I win it will be sold quick smart. After 4.5 miles down single track lanes with grass and slippery shit in the middle I got to Polruan. It’s a beautiful little village that I have spent a lot of time in over the years. I was the Postie there in the 1990’s and the Mrs and I ran the Lugger Pub the for a short time. This is the other pub ran by a team mate from my old rugby club. After mooching around for a chat I headed off for Liskeard
Saul
I wanted to go to Liskeard to have a look at the Chequered Flag which was once a Cafe but is now a workshop as well that does a few bike sales as well. Bloody waste of time that was the Cafe was closed and the bikes were rough as. I spoke to the chap but he was pretty disinterested and more focused on assembling a Chinky AJS 125. They did have a tidy BMW R75/6 that I liked the look of but the rest was either crap or just not my thing.

boboneleg
A couple of years ago that Chequered Flag place was selling 750 Africa Twins on eBay. They had bad feedback from their sales and their name got rubbished on a few on the forums. I don't know if it's the same people there now .
Saul
I couldn’t say mate I only went there years ago when it was the Pit Stop Cafe I only heard about the place having bikes last week. Most of what they had was dog rough and over priced. Not that friendly either. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were dodgy though just didn’t feel right there.

Saul
There were two block houses either side of the river with a large chain running between then dating back to Elizabethan times. The first one obviously. The idea was to close the harbour to French raiders. The Polruan block house is still there but the Fowey one is long gone. The chain is still on the river bed or so a mate in the divers club told me. There is also a castle at the river mouth with gun emplacements. You would have gone to Polruan by ferry from Fowey. I used to ride it every day with my Mail when I did the post over there.

Saul
Fowey Guns Only two now, I will try and find out what happened to the third. Still twice as many as Pollyrooster St Catherine’s Castle at the River mouth. The are to large articulated gun inplacements on the flat section below the tower. I will take some pictures the next time I am up there with the Dear Boy. Polruan Block house.

Actually there are some in the Town Museum, I suspect if they left them lying around on the quay they wouldn't be there long.
