Didn’t mean to be too critical of costumes, I just found it funny that people fish for things they won’t eat just as a fun activity. same as hunting now ... no need for it, you got a Tesco's on every corner now .... just for the warped individuals who like to kill animals

Nute
Some of what you buy in Tesco has had a pretty shit and short life. Take a look at how chickens are raised for food, it’s pretty grim. I’d rather eat something which has had a natural life and a quick end if Im honest. People should understand where their food come from and what its been through.

Hunting or fishing as a sport has a place if nothing else for culling out of control populations, and more so if the animal is to be eaten and used. Some supermarket meat has grown for only weeks in a country, slaughtered and disassembled in another, and end up half way around the world. That's complete animal and planet exploitation, and one of the reasons we are doomed as a civilization. Most supermarket generic meat and fish really shouldn´t exist. I don’t think there is a chance of hunting deer or boar replacing factory farming. There are just too many people on this planet. It’s not sustainable long term and the future will be unpleasant for the majority of life. I understand hunting for food but not for entertainment. Oh and I don’t like factory farming either but don’t claim to have an answer to feed 8 billion people. It’s one of those subjects most look away from. Doesn’t justify animal cruelty but there is no easy answer.

I agree, I just said I'm ok with people enjoying hunting animals that need to be hunted and serve as good food.

Pedro
I have a cousin that used to be vegan, she'd get in touch with the nature spirits and all that. Then she got together with a farmer and moved to the countryside, and first thought their new neighbor was a murderer for hunting boars. Two years later, and after a few times of having wild boars sniffing at her front door trying to get in and she's was on best terms with her neighbor and gets the ocasional boar leg as a thank you for asking him to come to her farm and clear them out The number of restaurants serving wild boar meat in rural Portugal is impressive, lately.

I’d rather eat a deer or a rabbit which has had a relatively natural life than a supermarket chicken which has lived 6-8 short and shit weeks. I shoot and eat both - they need controlling, and I do it as humanely as I possibly can.
