  1. Despite having been nearly dying from man flu all day, I have just been ouside in the dark and cold replacing a headlight bulb in Mrs Moon's car, The twins are now decorating the Christmas tree, helped by the cat... this sight has cheered me up no end as watch the cat systematically pulling down, braking or generally destroying everything the girls try and do "Bah Humbug, to all of it!"
  2. yeah, okay, but me knowing that would suggest that I actually read youroriginal post.
  3. I shall be driving to the UK on the 24th and not back till the 30th so won't be able to vote in the toty / moty stakes, ( unless of course someone wants to give me a large sum of money to use my vote in which case I could possibly log on from my phone...)
  4. Today I am mostly hiding inside, it's firkin freezing outside and trying to snow a little. I also have a flare up of sinusitis so I can't breth and my head hurts. You should all feel sorry for me and and send me chocolat bars in the post to meke me feel better...
  5. Clockwise or anticlockwise?
  6. if it's Dainese, it's a fox, not a wolf... just sayin' like.
  7. The Blade 1000 LTX ABS is around 15,000€ here https://www.tgb-motor.fr/quad-blade-1000-ltx-abs
  8. it's a TGB Blade 1000LTX, the light bar is an add on extra. The company I work for import and distribute a dozen or so makes of motorcycles, quads, and SSV's. We don't sell to the general public but supply dealers. The machines arrive packed down in special pallets. some dealers put them together themselves so we simply import and distribute. Some dealers want the machines to be delivered assembled and ready to ride, so we have a workshop that unpacks and puts them together, the logistics departement then does the despatching. We also have a repair workshop mostly repairing engines or whole machines that are returned to us either because the dealer can't or won't do the work themselves, or because, in some cases, we have sent a replacement part or engine and the damaged one is returned to us, in which case it will be repaired and returned to stock. I collate and format all warranty requests ( i don't decide what gets acceptedunder warranty or not) translate them into english and transmit them to the relevant maker. I then translate their reponses back into frog for the company and, where neccessary, provide further information or photos or whatever. I'm officially an " after sales technicien (warranties)" As my office opens onto the repairs workshop, I get to play from time to time too.
  9. Taiwanese that one. believe it or not thay are head and shoulders above the chinese in the quality stakes, more professional and easier to deal with too, but then my experience is still very limited in this domaine
  10. well with my new job, at least I know I'll always be able to get home if it snows...
  11. well whatever's occupying him I hope it ends well. Last time he dissapeared he had to crawl home from god knows where...
  12. this is why I buy meat from te local butcher, everything is cut or made in front of you, you watch him cut the meat off a dead animal ( or part of one) and he'll then pass it through the mincer if you want burgers or patiently explain to you ( me ) how best to cook it if you want it whole or whatever.
  13. Bobo neleg ought to be driving a boat. Fred clearly thinks he's riding a goat. Skippy's parked up beside the spanish main Whilst Pete has chosen a dago train Tango,s bike is looking for water and Pedro's seems to be with one of my daughters A tractor, a horse and a Harley clearly designed to haul only one choice left, better call SAUL
  14. @Saul get it off your chest mate, nobody here is likely to judge, well not the ones worth listening to anyway. Ive used this place ( its predecessor actually) as something of a crutch from time to time re the kids too in the early days. For what it's worth, it sounds to me like you're handling it pretty well so keep up the good work and I hope it works itself out for you and for her. PS, Horses are good for damaged people
  15. well is profit more important than people? actually, that's notthe right question either... Is MORE profit more important than people? generating MORE profit is the Prime ( and sole) purpose of any business today. when they can't increase sales or margins, they cut costs, wages are the number one cost so they reduce staff. there's no long term rationale, the master aim is more money now when the profit increase slows, we'll move on to something else. Short sighted, stupid, mindnumbingly destructive and sickeningly avaricious? sure, but no one's about to give up their personal little peice of the pie.
  16. HAVE A GREAT BIRTH DAY PHIL! (loud and slow Pete said...)

    Harsh Reality

I really want to say something about wind chill and the fact that the himalayan doesn't actually go fast enough to generate any but that would be churlish, so I won't But winchill is much less of a fator if you're off road, simply due to the lower speed compared to on road use.

I second what Sir F says, the combination of heated grips and bay muffs is the ultimate solution for hands. I managed for years with winter gloves and the standard handguards on the transalp ( I wasn't commuting every day though) but the Tiger had heated grips ( which is good cos the handguards are not as good as the old square transalp ones were at keeping the wind and rain off) and when I rode down the the Mille Vaches winter rally a couple of years ago I added bar muffs, (cheap ones from Lidl) and rode through some of the worst weather I have ever faced on a bike with lovely warm hands.
  21. Got hme at 01h00 this morning and slept till 11. it's now pissing down outside and about 4 or 5 deg c. I'd planned to clear out the shed of all the clutter accumulated over the summer in order to get the bike back into it's winter quarters. It lives outside under a cover during the summer and under the shed/Shelter and cover over winter. I need the weather to be dry for thos so im sitting on me arse drinking coffee and typing this.
  22. Today is being spent mostly in the car. Auxerre - Dijon - Lyon - Dijon - Auxerre 700 ish km of autoroute
  23. I used to wake up tired for a number of years though untill I sorted the sleep apnea problem. Much better now, and the new job means less stress so easier to get to sleep too
