Must be a grim message you send people, @Six30, if being a long time biker people don’t trust you to settle a mechanic’s bill after you ride off.

If you pay when you god dam like, they won’t treat you this way. But my mechanic has been a friend for many years, he prepared my bike like he would have one of his own, as he knows me and what it means to me, so he can do the work that’s needed and then invoice the stuff after it’s finished. Then he trusts me to pay it. I don’t see that as something difficult to understand between friends.

Certainly, I shall get an invoice over the next few days or when I go back in 1000km to check valve clearances. What, am I going to run away? Probably enough to buy a decent second hand bike in the UK, though.
