Can an essential journey... be an adventure? I just came home from my second near 1000 mile round trip for essential work during lockdown. Made all the more interesting for being non-motorway (to keep in the spirit of adventure). Has anyone else had legitimate excuses for two wheeled road trip fun?2 points

At the moment I have three bikes, CRF250 Rally, Tenere 700 and a DR650. If for whatever reason I could only have one bike then it would be the Donkey (DR650), best ‘do it all’ bike ever ?2 points

I remember when we called them Scramblers! Weird thing is that what they market as Scramblers now look like road bikes with high pipes.2 points

Absolutely! Last year the motorcycle travel author Derek Mansfield rode from the UK to the Ukraine on business. On a Moto Guzzi! And he's in his 70's! To me, that's fucking hardcore!2 points

I hate motorways on a bike, i’ll travel all the way across France without touching motorways. The only thing you see on a motorway are dangerous drivers ?2 points

Hi Bruce - welcome! Everytime I ride my bike it seems it's an adventure of some sort. Doesn't have to be off road or around the World - could be a nip down to the shops.2 points

Whats the point when he could just google a random photo of a bike and pass it off as his, we'll never know2 points

I fell in love with the Royal Enfield and the look, the simple nature of it. BUT, I really wish I had the carb version and no ABS. The price was right as well. I was also getting back into motorcycling after a few years and didn't know which "adventure" bike I wanted. NOW that I know more I am looking at a DR650....about as simple as it gets....air cooled, no ABS, carb, 21" front wheel.....oh it sounds lovely....lol. I looked at the CB500X, but it didn't seem to have much personality. ?2 points

This video is from May, had some time to work on my footage lately. I spent all yesterday working on the most ridiculous after thought on any bike ever. The ABS was added to meet regulations, so they stuffed it into a silly spot. I finally got the line routed and on and now I'm worried it isn't tight enough. The true test is to take it out today and get it hot. If I don't have a shower of brake fluid I will be one happy girl.2 points

At my old job, I rode lots of multi-state rides to attend meetings rather than flying there. IF tghe meeting was in an area thatr I wanted to ride to, I just headed there the weekend before the meeting on the bike. Rode to Connecticut and upstate New York a couple of times and did Chicago often on the bike.1 point

I've never bought into this adventure stuff that gets thrown about everywhere, to me the word Adventure just adds money to products for wannabees to buy. Every time i ride doesn't matter if its 5 mile or 500 mile its what i consider an adventure.1 point

Hi XTreme... Thanks for the welcome. I have a question... Define adventure? (...in motorcycling) Also, I have a second question... Why does no-one use their own name on the internet? Anyway, I look forward to some chatter... I found you guys via twitter, @brucejolliffe if you wanted to follow back.1 point

I always carry something like this for that bit of unscheduled trail maintenance https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bahco-Laplander-Folding-Saw-396LAP/dp/B0001IX7OW/ref=asc_df_B0001IX7OW/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=222086461140&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12350510019827449991&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007453&hvtargid=pla-385867917582&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 But i had to resort to something larger a few months ago when i came across this, i struggled to get the fat 650 through there but after a return visit you can now get a bus through there ?1 point

It has been a few weeks now since I was able to truly adventure with my Himalayan Bagheera and I sure do miss it. I find myself watching some previous videos just to relive the moments, one reason I enjoy making the ride videos. Here is one from a great adventurous ride. The needed part is days away so new rides will come soon. ?1 point
