Charlestown January 2023

I told my Mrs I am going to pop up the garage and put some fuel in my bike.   The garage is only a mile away and I thought I might as well warm the bike up properly it would be a shame to get condensation in the oil.  So I ended up travelling to Tywardreath then on to Par, Carlton Bay, Pentewan, Tregorrick and then stopping in Charlestown.   Quite a pleasant morning given that it is going to piss down later.  I have always loved Charlestown it is a stunning little harbour that was still a busy clay Port in my youth.  Not so now but they do quite often use it to make films.   Some episodes of Poldark were filmed there and many films and things over the years.    The rest of the time it is holiday let’s and dining out opportunities.   Destroyed what was an old established community.   But to elaborate on that would be to political and I don’t really want to rant on here.  Anyway look at the Priddy stuff.  😎

Oh and when I went home I had forgotten to buy fuel.  😳

Great shots Saul......but I'm puzzled how you managed to travel through time?

Should have read 2023, posted from my phone to save importing the photos onto my Mac, bit thumbsy when using the phone.  🙃

Lovely and yer to the damage the Kirsty Allsop/Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall brigade have caused. Mind you at least its not close enough to the city that they can commute or that lovely countryside would have been developed into sprawling housing estates by now. That’s what happened where I live.

A couple of years ago I tried to ride into WSM via my preferred back route , Hewish - Wick St Lawrence - Kewstoke .  Fuckmine , it's like feckin Yate around there now, I couldn't find any trace of the old roads I use to ride as they were all housing estates

Quite possibly they have had all sorts of masted things there over the years.   My claim to fame was 30 plus years ago I was walking my dogs  (two mental Jack Russells) along the cliff path down to Little Combe Beach, as I got on the beach there was a whole film crewe actors and all shooting a scene facing out to the bay with a twin masted sloop sailing by in the background.  at this point my Terriorists decided to attack the sound man and his boom.  Of course they had to abandon the shot and I heard one of the crewe on the radio to send the sloop around again.   Not as easy as it sounds with a sailing vessel.   They were not happy with me at all, but I was younger, hungover and not feeling that friendly so told them to fook off and walked on.  Twas embarrassing though.  🤣

Yep and they're not done yet either 😔

And a lot of the new builds are absolutely horrible. Must be designed on some computer programme that optimises what can be squeezed into a space because it's all so tiny, really tiny. Over behind Morrisons the roads are barely wide enough for two cars and as they build most of them without a garage the cars are parked along one side reducing it to a single lane. Consequently its easy to get stuck there waiting for a gap for ages and the people drive aggressively to try and dominate the road space if an opportunity to pull out happens.

Such shit planning. It's hard to believe it was done on purpose. Peoples blood pressure trying to get out of that place to get to work in the morning must be sky high and the exhaust emission with all that aggressive stopping and starting can't be good.
