Maybe because I have reached 71yo My daughter lives 200 yards from us, she is 40 yo has had 1 accident in the past, drives a 1600cc car, and her insurance is bit cheaper than mine. I did ask why my insurance is high, they just said..your age...or postcode that could flag up insurance problems too, was a bit vague. I have looked on the Meerkat site (other providers are available ) and the prices are the same.... I have other things to consider (car rear axle) that will require funds, so I will stick with the scoot, only costs me about £150 per year..

Clive
I nearly fell foul to the Ivan incident, I saw him hit my car, I got to his car before he drove off, cos I had feeling he was going too. Looked at my door and said I need your insurance details To which Ivan said, i not want to do insurance.. You take to garage, they repair...give me bill, I pay. Nope, it's going through insurance, he reluctantly gave me his details. It was about 4 weeks from the start of the accident to getting my car back. New door was needed. I went to my daughters house just after I got the car back, and guess what?.....Ivan had buggered off back to Poland about 2 weeks earlier!.. Glad I did it through the insurance...or I would have been stuffed with the repair bill.

The bad thing is you'll be paying as you had a claim.

I honestly do not know if his or if my insurance covered the damage repairs, more than likely it was mine, because my renewal quote went up £100+. My Mrs had something similar a few years again. A woman visited our neighbour and reversed into the Mrs CRV and fecked the back bumper, the womans insurance paid but my Mrs premium still went up as she had a recorded claim even though it wasn't her fault given that she was sitting in the living at the time.
