Saul
On a roll today I cleaned and fitted new rear pads to How Highs bike. All dry as a bone and less than 1mm of life left on the old pads. All sorted and back together.

Catteeclan
You're a good man Saul, saving them kids a packet although I think you're enjoying it too which is a bonus.

That’s the point really, I enjoy playing with bike stuff, and I do like helping the kids out like my dad did with me. Nice to be more than a grumpy old git on occasion.

Are the kids helping you when you're working on their bikes? ie... learning what to do so they can fix it if your working or unable to fix things.

How High does, watches and asks questions. Grace not so much but she has leaned basics like looking after her chain, tyre pressures oil and stuff. Kids in my experience are not as keen to have a go as our generations were and are. More worried about the consequences of getting it wrong. When Graces CBR failed the MoT on fork seals she panicked and didn’t want to ride home from the test. I convinced her that the bike was no different to when she rode there when she didn’t know about the problem and was fine to ride home. I told her that the tester would have told her if the bike was not safe to ride home. So she came around. My two with bikes just expect me to look after the bikes and show no interest in getting involved which does annoy me. But I can’t let the bikes go neglected. I don’t mind with Shadow so much but my boy is another matter but I won’t rant on that subject here.
Saul
Spent all afternoon fitting How Highs Christmas present and repairing the fairing panels they mount two. Both were cracked and split where he dropped the death trap on separate occasions. Anyway two new front indicators a tube of epoxy putty and a load of new push button fixings and it’s holding together again. @Pedro can you split this across into the workshop thread as well please

If so I think he should look at how he's riding before he runs out of his 9 lives, and hopefully long before he does something big

To my knowledge he has been down 3 times in 2 years. He treats Shadow right and I genuinely like him so I hope he gets through. Shadow won’t let him hang with the numpties anymore so that is a positive. She bollocks him about bad riding 1

Hopefully he continues to treat shadow right and gets through the youth stage on bike
Saul Posted Monday at 10:12 Author Share Posted Monday at 10:12 FFS How High has been down again on ice. It was recovered last night. Had a look this morning, new indicator fucked and the fairing panel it sits in holed. Front master cylinder fucked brake lever fucked. Handle bar bent and throttle Jammed, although if I can straighten it I think the throttle problem will go away. Too cold out there today to play bikes. Think a diesel heater for my shed is on the cards when finances allow. 1

Nah he is fine and he hasn't smashed up his helmet so hopefully only pride and ear bending to deal with.
Saul Posted Monday at 12:32 Author Share Posted Monday at 12:32 Got over the grumps and been out and got the Kwacker Death Trap rideable again. Freed off the throttle as it had just been pushed down the bar and jammed against the Bar End. Took the front brake lever off Shadows bike and used that to get him mobile again. He works she doesn't, at the moment. She's not to bothered given the weather. The front master cylinder is serviceable although has noticeable road rash and could do with being replaced. The front brake switch is broken but cheap to replace. The bar is bent but it's really not much maybe a degree or two so that can wait. I think he will need new fork seals come next MoT so I will sort the bars, both sides. out when it is stripped to do the seals. I still have his original serviceable front right indicator in the shed so that can go back on once I have patched the fairing panel. It's going to be an ugly repair though but as I said to him I can get it serviceable for nothing and he can get a new panel if and when he wants to. Personally I don't think the bike is worth it as it is a shed cosmetically but that is up to How High.
