Try taking 40 west out of Denver to Just north of Kremmling. then west on 134 to Toponas and Route 131 North to Phippsburg. In Phippsburg, take Route 8 West to Meeker and Route 64 West towards Dinosaur and regain Route 40 West. You'll miss a lot of the traffic that way. I did a ride report of this route last year, will see if I can find a link to it.

Howdy and welcome, William! As for Route 40 west of Denver - avoid at all possible costs. It's currently being used as the detour route around the I-70 closure at Glenwood Canyon and is a massive clusterfuck right now. I-70 is closed due to mudslides and should remain closed for another couple of months. Where in Utah are you headed? Some nice rides between Denver and Utah.

Do we even have trains?

Doing oil change, rear diff change and a new set of tires this weekend in prep for the August trip east. At least that's my goal - probably won't do much more than just buying the oil.

Fuck knows what the rental company will end up giving me, It'll be somewhere between the minibus thing or a cargo van with boxes to sit on. Find out tomorrow when I pick it up.

My wife's sisters and brother are coming here for the week -6 of'em! It's gonna be hard to avoid them for a week, but I'll give it my best. Had to rent a large, 9 person van to pick them up at the airport and haul them around for a week. KInda looking forward to driving that so I can see what all the excitement about vans is. Our town has an annual race up a hill - mostly T- buckets and pre-1940's - in September. I'll post pics of it when it happens. Tons of cool cars.

Saturday is the Bike MS Colorado Multiple Sclerosis bike ride. I'll be a course marshal on my Tenere along with about 8 other moto guys. It's gonna be like herding kittens to keep the bicyclists on the route. Will try to take some pics to post.
