  1. Old Man winter showed up again last night...
  2. Sincerest Condolences Ray..... makes me feel truly blessed as my Dad will be 88 this June...just talked with him yesterday & he's doing great...so is Mom. The Mrs. & I are planning another trip to MN to see them this coming spring. Definitely get out & RIDE!!
  3. Pellet stove stopped working 2 days ago....great time of year for that to happen! The guy I bought it from 5 yrs. ago, came over & sussed out the issue....control board went tits up....should have a new one by Wednesday....right about when the temps are supposed to drop into the teensF. It has been nice not hearing the fan running in that thing.
  4. After a dry winter so far.... & just like that....it shows up... Yesterday morning when I got up, it was 7f....this morning it was 36f at the same 5am time... Pretty wet stuff as the rain has now washed alot of it away...
  5. You're 1 of the 1st UK'rs I've met that actually skis....this is where I learned how to ski... https://skibowl.com/ It was only 50 miles from home...we'd go a handful of times every season...mainly on Friday & Saturday nights. By 7pm most people would pack it in for the night or just head for the bar....so we could do top to bottom runs w/ No lift lines....till 10pm. The cabin in the middle of this pic is called the Warming Hut & it's been there for well over 80 yrs...it's a great feature of this place as you don't have to get ski to the bottom to have a break....have a beer, warm up & then back @ it! My dad put me on a pair of skis there when I was 4 y/o...one of the best gifts he ever gave me.... & my brothers. I've ski'd every ski area on Mt. Hood & the snow has the tendency to be a little heavy & sometimes wet....(known as the Cascade Concrete) but if you can ski it, you can ski ANYwhere. And compared to the snow on the east side of OR, which is noticeably dryer & faster....there's thigh-deep powder sometimes....& is fortunately where I live now.
  6. I do remember that tale.... just about as funny as the time he broke his nose riding his boy's DT 125....
  7. Brings back some great memories @Nute.... spent alot of years night skiing on Mt. Hood here in OR. That 1st pic is nothing but a Ski freeway...
  8. Gotta admit, that'd give Bob's Vespa a run for it's money. Hmmm...maybe a new thread subject?....Battle of the Scooters. That oughta really make Buck's day.
  9. Sounds just like the "Welfare Ho's " we have over here....
  10. Reminds me....need to give our car a bath while the weather is still decent. A nice perk I get w/ the Equinox is that when I take it in for service, it always comes back freshly washed. Gotta do the Trash/Recycling detail today...then fix the Mrs. crock pot so we can enjoy some beef stew tonight.
  11. Slurping down my last can of Irish Death while tonight's Spaghetti dinner digests.....another hour or so, 'Rita's w/ my Better Half are on the schedule.
  12. On-Board w/ Doug Henry racing a 'Lectric 'Crosser....& winning on it. Pretty impressive knowing that his paralyzed legs & feet are strapped to the pegs ...so his cornering speeds are down from the others...but he sure makes up for it getting that beast to hook up outta the corners! Dude definitely knows how to Haul some Ass-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVL7HwD-9nw
  13. Sounds vaguely familiar... only difference is there's NO van!...
  14. Ace ride report @Pedro!! Timing looked to be the name of that game...
  15. Nice pics Phil....definitely looks like that here with our 9deg F this morning....supposed to get colder tomorrow...
  16. 9F here this morning...just a tad bit crispy-cold... The percip levels are amazing low this year....Not complaining, but it could have a Serious effect on Fire season though...
  17. Down right pisser about your car @Six30... After being home for a week now....it's about time I get the led outta my arse & fill my truck up w/ yard debris for a run to the dump...oh joy. Definitely getting a ride in today as well...before our temps drop into the teens F starting tomorrow.
  18. Fortunately, he's a tough kid...built like his Dad. He's got a coupla broken ribs & a fractured collar bone. So grateful he's fixable. Looking forward to seeing him next week.
  19. It's about 108 miles to Richland WA 1 way.... & it's 280+ miles to Portland from my place. The route I'll be taking to John Day is longer as it's through the center of OR...but MUCH more pleasant as it's on a 2-lane vs. that bloody Interstate.
  20. That's the way it's been here this year....snows at night but melts off by the next afternoon. We had 5-6 inches of snow this time last year....only good thing is that it's cheaper to heat the house when the temps are in the 40'sF during the day....& hasn't got any lower than 23F at night.
  21. I remember the Tralp & your Beemers...but always like the XR personally...
  22. Gotta drive to Richland WA on Monday... to order a new threaded collar for my arm....hook is loose as a goose & about to fall out. Then I'll probably be traveling to Portland area on Tuesday to visit w/ some old friends, see my grandson who was just in a head-on collision on New Years day....& then help another old friend finally move outta Portland to John Day OR...so I'll be racking up around 1k miles by next Friday. Spending today putting away Christmas decorations & getting another Ride in...
  23. Damn straight....during that 4 day ride, I didn't stay @ any hotel or motel either....just stuffed my sleeping bag in right behind the headlight..no need for a bunjie cord. Amazing how much weather it could keep off ya as well.
  24. I too, had a coupla Honda's....'93 XR 80 w/ a mid 80's motor. It was originally a 9th birthday present to my oldest grandson...& was an absolute blast to ride in the snow. After many years of riding & fiddling, I completely rebuilt it...brand new top-end...cam, valves, springs, piston, rings...Barnett dirt-digger clutch...wrapped & sprayed exhaust w/ aftermarket alum can. He's now 27 y/o & came last Memorial day from NM to collect it along w/ my XT 600 Sumo. The other Honda I owned was an '83 VF 750 Sabre. The motor was quite smooth w/ a broad powerband...but doing carb work on it was a bit of a bitch...ONLY complaint I have of it. I did my longest ride on it back in 2011, when I rode down to Parker AZ & back in 98 hrs.....2500 miles in just over 4 days.
