  1. Like an old boy I used to work with once told me: "Dynamite comes in small packages"....
  2. Breakfast of Champions....
  3. There's something very "Oximoronish" about a rider in full race leathers on a bagger...
  4. Depends on WHO you ask... might need to take down those tabloid pics taped to your mirror...
  5. Damn Straight!!....
  6. We have that same type of sign at our favorite watering hole here in Elgin....
  7. Nice one @Saul....cool collection of hardware.
  8. Way to go Fred.... looks like a blast...makes me miss the fun I had on my XR's. Maybe a possible BOTM entry?...
  9. Been in the mid 50f's the past 3 days...& not a cloud in sight So I've been running my chainsaw through the back yard, cutting up dead fallen limbs of a few trees....which is a bit challenging at times trying to hang onto it w/ my hook....but I prevailed & got my 4x4 wheelbarrow (truck) filled up with debris that I'll be able to empty at the local dump next Saturday....for FREE. It also felt great to get a coupla Rides in as well... With the fast melt we had recently, there's been a few signs of erosion around....makes me glad I live where I do & not down near the river as it's quite full & flowing pretty quickly. The hillside at my place is so full of tree stumps & roots, that erosion doesn't have much effect. The hill on the right side of these tracks, showed a few spots where run-off was apparent...yesterday there was a coupla rather large rocks that let go & rolled down onto the tracks...somebody obviously moved them so later in the year, the excursion train can pass through w/o issues...
  10. I used to work w/ a guy who would eat Onion sandwiches for lunch....needless to say, it was like co-worker repellent after lunch each day!
  11. That Krauser was interesting.... & the RE5 rotary Zook you don't see many of-- @ least over here. I did a little spannering once, on a GTS that was at the bike shop I used to work for... Interesting bike.
  12. Already got some garden work done....sharpened the saw, then cut up some fallen tree limbs & collected them into the bed of the Chevy....then had a can of Irish Death to wash down the sawdust. Now waiting on some bacon-wrapped chicken bits to finish cooking for lunch Definitely getting a Ride in as it's a lovely 55f & sunny today... Looking to do the same again tomorrow...
  13. Like there's not already....
  14. You weren't being nosey Nute....its just human curiosity...no worries. A big part of my recovery was proving to myself that I could still follow through & finish w/ some of my projects.... like rebuilding a 5.0 ltr. V8 from the crank up & installing it into my truck....as well as doing the same w/ my '88 XT 600....all with these.... My 2 oldest grandsons now own those vehicles....which was another turning point in my recovery....learning to Let Go of the old life & embrace the new.
  15. 12 yrs. ago I was Visiting my sick wife...caught MRSA through a contact of some type. I was born with a vascular birth defect, so MRSA attacked it hard....almost killed me. I was in a 3-day coma before I got sent to a burn center at another hospital...spent 7 weeks there while they amputated 1/3rd of my right foot, all the toe tips on my left foot, & 4 fingertips on my LH. Racked up over a million $$ in bills...which I never saw, as the hospital that I caught MRSA in paid for EVERYthing including my prosthetic arm & hook. Still feel quite blessed to be here & owe it all to God's grace. Really liking to still be able to ride my Ebike. Skiing will be attempted next season after I dial in my equipment.
  16. I can absolutely relate to that @Nute I've seen the inside of hospitals enough for 3 lifetimes...I get the eeby-jeeby's just being a visitor in them. I remember those on my feet back when they amputated my toes...recognized them straight away. I had that same mentality regarding the Bike & Skis....Just don't try to recover too quickly my friend....it sometimes can come back & bite you in the ass. Speedy recovery mate....I'll be praying for ya...
  17. Look what Pete's missing out on! ...he'd definitely have somethin' to say about this....
  18. Maybe Bob thought the Mormons already have enough money?....as the Klim factory is in Mormon territory. Definitely a space-age looking lid.
  19. Welcome aboard @Gordon....right off the bat, like you already as that's my Dad's name...lol My oldest grandson had the Ninja 400...loved it--even did a trackday with it. He eventually sold it on....now rides my old XT 600 SuMo...couldn't be happier. I did a stint at a bike shop awhile back & had the opportunity to turn a few spanners on ZX6's...nice bikes, but the ergo's will eventually take a toll on your body. Pretty, Fast bikes are 1 thing, but there a fair amount of Ergo-correct options out there that will make for quite a load of happy 2-wheel miles. It'll be great to see what you end up with....
  20. Loads of liquid sunshine last night & more for today.....hopefully will finally wash the rest of the snow off the driveway, so we can start driving the car again. Then I can replace the headlights on the truck w/ a new set I just bought...as they've seen better days since the deer I hit a coupla years ago. Also will be into finishing "thorn-proofing" the tires on my better half's Etrike. There's no company that makes thorn-proof inner tubes for 20"x 3" fat tires...but I did buy some thorn-proof strips to be applied between the tubes & the inside of the tires....so we'll see how that pans out...
  21. Depending on where you're going....that's generally a great month to Ride over here...
  22. After a glorious day yesterday (weather-wise)....woke up to 16f this morning, so the slimey snow that's left has turned to crunchy hardness....the dogs liked it as they could run across it w/o sinking their short legs into it. Going with Mrs. Hook to have a go at building a FB page for our church today...that oughta be interesting...
  23. Life is like a roll of TP....the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes...
