"It exploded in my minge!" Counterfeit Sex Toy Purchased on Facebook Causes Serious Burns
A 32-year-old woman from Merthyr Tydfil has suffered serious injuries after allegedly using a counterfeit electronic massager purchased through Facebook, leaving her with severe third-degree burns to her groin.
The woman, who asked not to be identified, described the ordeal as both shocking and extremely painful.
> “It was a bit warm. I thought that was normal, then it exploded so hard I didn’t know if I was coming or going,”
Emergency services were called to the scene and the woman was taken to Prince Charles Hospital, where she received urgent medical treatment. Hospital staff confirmed she suffered extensive burns requiring intensive care and ongoing monitoring to prevent infection and further complications.
Authorities are now warning the public about the dangers of buying electrical and personal care devices from unverified sellers online. Counterfeit electronics can contain faulty wiring, unsafe batteries, and poorly manufactured components that may overheat or explode during use.
The woman remains in hospital in a stable but serious condition as investigations continue into the origin of the device. Officials hope the incident will raise awareness about the potentially devastating risks posed by counterfeit electronics sold online.
