One of my boys has finally found himself a full time job...its been a week now , operating a 10 wheel dirt dump truck..was on probation for 4 days with a supervisor on board, last Friday they let him solo...been really hard to find someone or a company to give him a try , has most ask for a few years of experience to start with...long hours, from sun up to down...11 to 12 hours per day...with experience under his belt, probably better places or conditions will eventually pop up...my other boy is finishing his red seal in a few weeks at the community College at the moment..he's coming over this morning to use my garage to replace a wheel bearing on his pickup truck...its a long weekend for us here ...there is a few openings at the college we're he's at , and his teachers have recommended that he applies for the job...they are looking for candidates who are are up to date with the new cars , has all except one are all at retirement age now...

How embarasing ......lol... I just don't get these guys its like a bunch weekend bikers who try to pretend they are 1% .....
-
No not today...lol...a tour of coffee shops with the lone wolfs...lol.....it's probably the last time Im joining those guys...they stop to offend like for 30 min for breacks...
-
Well 22c on the forecast...sunny and no wind....definitely will be going out riding with the Tim's Angles...lol.
-
That's quite the overhaul Bob...nice work.

Yes have to agree it's not a comfortable bike for 3000 miles..lol...mostly just hold more of a sentimental value for me now...sold the bike 4500 bucks when I acquired the 22 1290..comfort wize it was a little better but it was a rolling laptop on wheels , not to mention it let me stranded on the side of the road a few time...and the old 950 found it's way back home after the fuel pump failed on it ...luckily that owner didn't have time to trash it before it broke down and it sat for and entire year ...having no one who wanted to work on the thing I was able to buy it back after running into the fellow at the shop...for 2500 buck...I think it was a steal...lol...he was just glad to get rid of it...
-
That's what I keep hearing from guys that rode them in the pass...I haven't ridden one yet kinda curious to test it out..dam thing is rated at 145hp and it's tiny....
-
Going to Jean's place in a wyll to help him install some forward controls on a old 2003 vmax 4 that he picked up this winter...the bike is in half decent shape...ill try to snap a few pics...I keep telling him...you better be careful when you take that thing out...has he never ridden anything else than a Harley...I think he's in for a surprise...lol.
-
That's not a valid excuse...lol. Anyway I've just ordered everything I need for the fix...everything is still available surprisingly....who knows i might find the time...if we get a week of crap weather...but being retired now...think Im getting kinda lazy...lol....im due for my morning nap...lol.
-
So is it running yet ?
-
Taken you long enough....lol.. what's the hold up...parts are slow to come in ?
-
Just don't have the time or the will to do it now...lol...im afraid that it will be sitting in my garage with parts spread out everywheres for a month or two....has Im riding the indian 90% of the time...
-
Not sure exactly what this one has into it...it will be the third time that it's service...im keeping a close eye on the coolant overflow tank for now if I notice any level changes it will be parked...
-
But I did get a few compliments for some older guys...Frank the salesman and and older dude from the service department has they only ones they've seen were mostly all trashed by now...most of these bikes were ridden hard off road..and not really looked after cosmeticly..the paint on this thing looks almost showroom new...lol.
-
How's your bike coming along ? Still waiting for parts ? To be considered half and expert on this antic bike is actually a compliment now...lol I've come to the conclusion that people who use to be knowledgeable about these bikes are now retired or have moved on to another life...90% of the staff were either not born or babies when this bike was around..
-
I have no idea....he's running it below 4500 rpm till its first oil change... 4500 revs equals 90 kph...seems awfully high ...? ktm runs 120 just below 4500 rvs
-
lol.....no such smell coming from the exaust....like I was saying it's now a secondary bike now . things would different if it was....its ridedable like it is now....i'll get to it this winter has a project...
-
Well I checked out Robertos bike...not to sure what to make of it or know much about it...but it's huge from the tank view...it looks awfully like a BMW...
-
It was more leaking from the push rod side..it was leaving pundles in the skid plate...and certain parts now take to long to get in ...it's tolerable for now...till I get to it this winter ...I ordered a few parts today and it's gonna take about a month to come in...a fuse box cover and a few special bolts...
-
Time will tell...I think Harley is trying to push up sales and intress on your side of the pond...have no idea how long intress will last...these aren't moto gp bikes material if you ask me...and belong in a different league....barge racing..lol.
-
No disrespect but I don't see this moto gp thing lasting to long...most see it a cheap knock off to the mission king of the baggers..with only Harley competing...what makes the mission league exciting is direct competition between two manufacturers and were improving these models will filter down to the consumers eventually...improving both brands...
-
Wich year was that Bob...04 ? Did you purchase it new ? ...I'm also getting there in age , and can't get the full potential of it now...but it's a blast to ride in town with the engine revs up from lights to lights...lol...it sounds like one of those trohfy truck...lol.....had some younger kids yesterday following me in a car with there windows down..I swear they were mystified and in a tranz listening to that lc8 bark...lol.
-
Has Im not planing to do more than a couple of thousand km with it this summer....ill take it apart this coming winter , has it's due for the water service..
-
It sure is a wonderful bike that they created so long ago...well after the test ride my oil leak is 50% resolved...took it apart this morning, it's coming from the clutch, water pump side...oil pressure switch is bone dry..valve cover down to the cylinder base gaskets are also dry....looks to me like it's seeping from the inner clutch cover gasket....the oil leak isn't extreme at the moment...think I'll just ride it like this for the summer like it is...unless it gets worse...

That's a hilarious story Alpalfa...lol.... basically what the service department said...they wanted to tear the engine down has a winter project..lol Guys that never worked on these , younger guys...they have no idea what's involved servicing these bikes...and no shops now are really interested on working on these...it's not has bad has most everyone beleive..it's actually not has bad. Dam this old 22 years-old bike is such a pleasure to ride...its so old school, choke cable , no abs or tracion control...never ridden a fuel injected one...but those carburetor...the fueling is spot on...its so smooth and predictable...no jerkyness at all. Struck a partridge at 100 kph...the shifter and side stand took most of the impact...good it didn't explode on me and the bike...lol.
