I bought a knackered K100 a few months ago. I pulled it all apart and am starting to put it back together without the fairings and other bits I don't like. I am trying to decide what tank position and seat alignment I like best - need to decide this now as it will influence the amount of space I have under the seat/ tank for the electrics (which ive not really thought about as yet). Which one do you lot think looks better - the bike is on the centre stand so the back will drop 20mm or so when off it. The first pic is the easiest to achieve, the tank is in the original position with the original mounts, the new seat will bolt near enough straight on. I don't like the misalignment between the seat line and the base of the tank . If I went this route I could tidy up the frame/ seat gap with the original fairing section. The second pic is with the tank in the original position but with a spacer under the back of the seat to make it line up better. There third one is with the front of the tank raised off the original mounting and with a packer under the back of the seat to make the seat and lower edge of the tank line up as far as possible. This will be the most work to achieve as I will need to make a new mount for the front of the tank either by welding an aluminium bracket to the underside of the tank or cutting and altering the frame mount points. I will also need to increase the clearance between the bars and the top of the tank to accommodate the increased height. I think I prefer the third option - this is the first bike ive ever done anything drastic to so feel free to point out any potential cock ups ive not thought of. I will need to weld something onto the frame to fill the gaps between the base of the seat and the frame.2 points

This is what it started out as when I got it, it looks a lot tidier than it was - someone has blown over the engine casings / final drive with silver paint and the black parts around the engine (airbag etc) with black paint. Most of the paint was starting to flake off except for the black sump with looked like it had been painted with about 10 coats. It didn't run when I got it, I did manage to get it running but I think only on 3 cylinders. The fuel system was full of crud so the injectors would also have been, and the tank leaked.2 points

Thought I would document the rolling resto of my T300 885 Triumph Triple. Actually a 1997 model year bike but was registered in 1998. The bike has covered 50k miles and is a little cosmetically challenged. As far as I can tell it has been used but cared for. I have nothing documented but a receipt for a new rear shock. £602 for a Maxton what ever that is. From the MoTs I can tell the tyres are less than 1k miles old Michelin Radials, again I don’t know anything about them. It has new chain and sprockets, 3 new discs and pads. The fluids including oil look spotless so I think is has had a major service recently in mileage terms. None of this is small money but obviously money I don’t have to spend. I have no clue when the valves were last checked but they should have been done 4 times now in terms of mileage. So that is on the to do list. I will say the bike starts instantly ticks over well and is as mechanically quiet as these things get. The day it arrived after a wash To get to know the bike today I T cutted the dull paint, polished and waxed it Also painted the bar end weights and petrol cap Also removed the mankey rack that was on it. There are many jobs to come before it is the way I want it but I will chip away at them as I get the time It has MoT until March 26 so I will insure and tax it then tomorrow and go for the first ride After that the next job it to paint the pipes and silencers1 point

They can tune the revmax for more torque and it would still have more power than any snow mobile engine.1 point

Needs a clear screen with a black rubber edge on it. Looks nice, love what you did with the fuel cap.1 point

I checked the rear light and it already has two LED bulbs in it. I have two H4 LED bulbs on the shelf to go in the bike left over from another vehicle that has since moved on. Forgot to mention it has a set of Hel braided brake lines fitted as well, they don't look to have much age either. I fitted a chargings cable on the bike so that I can keep the battery easily charged up to avoid and Starter Sprag clutch woes that can affect this motor if the charging system and battery are neglected. Also noted if I did have to change the Sprag I have the motor without the access panel so it's a motor out of the frame job to do it. Total ball ache but doable. I have paint and parts on the way but I fully intend to ride the bike in the mean time as well. I won't commute on it, the CBF is still the go to for that but I can see me putting miles on this Triumph. I have hankered after one of these original T300 Hinckley's for along time and now they are worth very little is the time for me.1 point

Well my T300 Hinckley was delivered today. it is old and was cheap but I am chuffed to bits with it. Somebody has thrown a lot of money in consumables at it in the last couple of years. Starts on the button and sounds as sweet as these things ever get. I have no history apart from what I can glean from the DVLA MoT check. I can see a lots of tinkering in my future.1 point
