  1. Yeah I have done that, 102 so far from the tank but I am thinking around 200 before the light come on. Have to wait and see.
  2. Yeah I did some research before I bought it, hopefully several years service in it for me. Bike, because it matches her riding gear
  3. Caught the 09:19 train to Newton Abbot this morning to collect the CBF600. Uneventful journey on a pleasant GWR intercity type train. I don’t know the right name for it but big green fecker will do. Arrived at 10:53 and was picked up by the seller, Cornish fella called Rob. Drove past Channing Wood Prison to Denbury to pay for and collect the bike. I am chuffed with the bike I got for £1100 with a full set of Givi boxes, heated grips, 31k miles with four services in the book. Everything working, good tyres, never been dropped and sounding sweet. What’s not to like for a work hack. Filled it up and rode the 62 miles home, pretty uneventful really. The bike went better than I expected with a fair bit of zip when you get the revs up, obviously no competition to the Hornet in terms of power and handling but still pretty good nonetheless. Very stable in windy weather and pretty comfortable. Of course as soon as I got home Chloe was desperate to go out for a spin so I headed up to Damerells to get her a sausage sandwich. Unfortunately the cafe was closing just as we got there at 3 pm but I placated her with some Pringles and a tin of pop. Then headed home so another 40 miles on the day. The bike came with this enormous top box, would have been right up Pete’s Strasse Which I took off before we went to Damerells. Chloe has informed me that when she passes her test she wants it. Her perch passed the arse ache test so she has given her approval . I really enjoyed the day and am pleased with the bike for the money. I also love the old school clocks but do miss having a fuel gauge and it has been years since I’ve had to count gears but it all came back to me quickly enough. I have some obsessive cleaning to do but apart from that all I have to do is ride it. Good day.
  4. Out with the dog this morning. Loving the tiger water. Pilot boat off out to bring in a clay boat.
  5. Yeah look at the guidance thread in the bike section. Honda CBF600SA, It's only a cheapie commuter but I am quite chuffed with it. Going to get it tomorrow.

I think this matchy matchy thing is a carry over from the equine world. . Weird horsey types.
  7. Weird day finished work at 8:00 am drove to Duchy College to pick up my older daughter as she has been on weekend duties. She was grumpy but came around, we have been on the cross for a couple of days but all good now. All it took was a Maccies McFlurry Got home at 9:00 am coffee and breakfast then headed off to Newton Abbot to look at my new to me bike and bought it. Now 1:00 pm so headed home for 3:00 pm. Crash slept until 7:00 pm now don’t know my arse from my elbow. Happy though, watching some trash Aussie cop show with the dog and Mrs.

Cheers Fred I appreciate that. PM the postage cost and I’ll send you my address and the shipping. Thanks Bob, haven’t had a revvy 4 pot in a long time, really looking forward to it. Pedro, I checked the passenger perch and it will be soft enough for the princess. Her response was “finally you have a bike that matches my riding gear” I have bread and created a monster. . Oh and apparently it is also important that I now have a bike that matches hers. .

Nahh not my thing, I wouldn't mind something like Bob has but those big new scoots aren't my thing all all plus the youngest wouldn't get on it. Not cool enough.

Good options both, I found something that interested me in Worcestershire which is around 3.5 hours away by road, train or bus 17 hours, how the fuck can that be. Think I am going to wait until the right thing just jumps out at me in Devon or Cornwall.

I am terrible for that, I was looking at perfectly sensible old Dullvilles around about 30K on the clock but tidy for £1000 to £1500 and ended up obsessing over a minty one with 8k on the clock supposingly for a winter commuter/winter hack. If I had bought that I would have still be looking for an old hack to keep it nice. And that's even before I bought one.
  15. No, but I could offer you some

  18. 7:30 am, no better time to put together the youngest’s latest acquisition. No one up to offer helpful advice. . New home for the gecko. Just had her first paycheque so it is burning a hole.

The wife is okay really, if i said I was going to get another bike I would get the eye roll but she wouldn't moan. Remember I know what she spends on horses so it's more like banter between us. I have thought long about a big brick, I wanted one for ages years ago back when they were uber spendy. Blackbirds are very reasonable for what you get now, £3k will get a nice one but you would be forever tickling it where I live. One dual carriageway in Cornwall. Plus they have a thirst and if I was going to commute on it that would be a factor if it drank more fuel than my E46. There are lots of places where I can go full noise on the Hornet for at least a couple of gears, do that on a Blackbird and and you could be in worlds of hurt. Then there is an older big ZZR I do like them as well but same thing as a Blackbird also a Kawasaki GTR. Love VFR's. I just dunno really. I think the factor you have hit spot on is that I want something that I can take the youngest on and that is not the Hornets sweet spot, well for her anyway. Comfy for two with a bit of zip is the criteria, shaft mayby, fairing probably, low seat also a factor. The FX650 Vigor and a 650 Trans I went to look at were to high for my short arse. Plus pretty fugly in the flesh. I think I should probably stop navel gazing be grateful for what I have and get out on the Hornet. But then again there is a minty 1976 CB750 for sale 7 miles from me, but I would never commute on it, fuck it no, ride the Hornet .

You are probably right, I was just thinking fully faired shafty, good on fuel, comfy, cheap to run and buy. But if I am honest I couldn’t ever imagine going on a ride out with my mates on it, Dullville shame. . It would be a cold day in hell that I ever got any sort of EV.

I think you maybe right. The Hornet is a great commuter but I sort of don’t want to stack the miles to and fro from work. Or I just fancy something to play with that I don’t really care about. No you are right I am just looking for an excuse to get the Mrs on side.
  22. Is that the one up north where reality is as fluid as the weather?

I am seriously thinking about getting a 650 Deauville for commuting to work, does it make sense? or am I losing my grasp of reality?
  24. Flounced for sure, couldn't stand the heat
