  1. The more I know, the more I realise I don't know! And, as @Clive said in another thread, you can't teach an old dog new tricks! I accept that I will never be fluent, but I'd like to be able to hold basic conversations with people, rather than staring back like a rabbit caught in headlights when anyone speaks to me!
  2. Cheers. Conjugating the verbs is my real stumbling block, and I'm still only using present tense! We've not ventured into past or future tenses yet, which will be a nightmare I'm sure!
  3. Yes, it's coming along very slowly!
  4. Erm, tell me again how easy it was for you to find somewhere to live?
  5. You got me! Vivre la différence.
  6. It'll be interesting to see the price. The new Hornet 750 is 7800€ so 10500€ could be pretty realistic. But, yeah, low slung exhaust and no bash plate? Strange!
  7. We've got Critair stickers (clean air zones) for our cars and my motorbike. They cost about 5€ each and, as all of them are fairly low emission vehicles, we can enter most cities with the restrictions without further issue.
  8. You stick to your Warburton's white putty and @MooN and myself will continue to enjoy the finer things! Viva la différence!
  9. I'm pretty sure that my life took a different direction when I got into bikes. At one point I pretty much had 2 separate groups of friends......those with bikes and those without. I've still got friends who just don't "get" the biking thing and I guess they never will.
  10. More Ugly, if that's at all possible?
  11. Every day is the weekend for me now! Don't miss that work stuff one bit!
  12. It's law to have winter tyres or snow socks/chains 1 November to end of March in some of the communes round here. My missus' journey to work falls just outside of the zone, but we'll probably get some snow socks for her car, just in case.
  13. South Wales girl with a fantastic voice.
  14. I'd love to go and see the statues on Easter Island, but suspect it's a bit beyond my reach now. Machu Picchu would be good too.
  15. I don't know. Maybe it's that she does a fair mileage in the car getting to and from work. But she says that her confidence on the bike has gone for some reason. Maybe just a passing phase.
  16. Yeah, just how it is at the moment, Pete. Weekends are a no-go for the bike at the moment, as Mandy has lost her biking mojo, and weekdays just evaporate! Hopefully I'll get out on the bike sometime this week if the weather holds.
  17. Painfully slow ride today, but at least the weather was pleasant.
  18. I love this photo of my missus in a traditional hut of the Sami people, who herd the reindeer. This holiday was special, because my missus was going into hospital on our return for a cancer operation, so it was something to take our minds off what lay ahead.
  19. Yeah, it's a great place. Been there a few times myself. Late May/early June, when the rhododendrons are in flower, the carriage drive is fantastic.
