You're not wrong Pete. On one of our trips to the Pyrenees we were stopped at a cafe somewhere in France. The patron brought out the coffee's and then proceeded to check out the bikes. He got excited when he saw the Welsh flags on some of the bikes, he asked if we were Welsh. As I was the best French speaker I told him that they were all Welsh except for me . He asked where I was from, when I told him I was English he looked at me and spat on the floor . All my mates pissed themselves laughing, I just laughed along with them ?3 points

I should have paid these people to do this when i bought the thing in late '02! She has never run better! My best guess is the fact i threw in a finger adjusted fuel air jet in violation of Federal Govt USA law dint hurt! Dont snitch, snitches get stiches...lol So i took her for a spin, 41F, no humidity...perfect numbers for hp, and she pulled from idle to redline like never before... And my IRC GP 110's are the best dual sport tyres i have ever run on my KLR. They dint dig in on sand, my KLR hated sand, not now. End of this ride report! Oh ps, Suzukis are gay!2 points

Once or twice a year I attend a meeting with sales guys from all over Spain, around 12 guys from different areas. You can imagine the conversations at dinner, and these are educated guys that do like each other, but even then their rivalry shows in the most interesting things, like who makes the best olive oil, the best sardines, the best whatever... One of them told me, a couple years ago, that kids from the same grade from all over Spain learnt history from 31 or 41 different history manuals. Each one deleting Spain's feats as a country and finding a way to make their own area more important.1 point

Well at least there's one real motorcyclist from Cardiff! It goes without saying that I'm the one real motorcyclist from Swansea! Think it's going to be down to you and me to represent our cities with distinction Alan!1 point

There are usually quite a few DR650's for sale in France, would that be a pain to register in Spain ? https://www.leboncoin.fr/motos/1765249795.htm/ https://www.leboncoin.fr/motos/1762596757.htm/1 point

We should try to do this trip next year, those of us with bikes can meet along the way. Tym can fly in if he is off the no fly list by then.1 point

You mean other than the tropical climate? My grandparents were from Methlick near Aberdeen, I spent summers there as a child and we went to Edinburgh a few times. It had good memories for me. I wanted to live somewhere with good infrastructure and resources and somewhere where reformed theology was practiced and it is a beautiful city and a gateway to incredible countryside. Far enough from my elderly mother so she does not expect me to be around all the time but close enough to get there quickly should I need to. I love it here.1 point

I'd be up for that, great idea. Fuck knows what bike I'll have by then but if all else fails I'll come on the very comfy TL1000S ??1 point

Well that would be a mammoth schlepp for a 410cc thumper from here. Then there's the likelihood that I won't be allowed to travel since I won't be doing any 'new normal' hoop jumping nonsense that they're likely going to roll out soon, if I can avoid it. Fuck, I had to stop flying due to all the herding, shoe removing, and other 'turrist' prevention bollocks.1 point

About 300 miles Dave! This is where you should have gone.......about 30 minutes from me. There's camping with wifi and also caves as well......which maintain an 18C temp all year round.1 point

Here's a true story Dave! When I came over here in October 2005 I needed to return the hire car back to the UK. Got lost somewhere in France in the early hours of the morning and stopped at a service area to get directions. The cafe was full of truckers and I tried my best to get across that i needed to get back to Britain. They weren't remotely interested in helping me. Then thinking back to French I did in school I remembered "Pays de Galles" (Wales) and told them I was from there. Total change! They all wanted to shake my hand and buy me coffee. A few of them could even speak decent English and were telling me about how welcome they were made in Cardiff when they went there for the rugby. They fucking loved the Welsh! Eventually one of them said to follow him and he got me back on the motorway. Now I'm not saying it's a disadvantage being English.......it's more a case of having an advantage if you're not!1 point

It's a great idea Pedro.......here's the things we've got to consider: 1. Who's coming and where they're travelling from? 2. How long virus restrictions are going to be in place? 3. What needs to be in place for Brits due to Brexit repercussions? Like possible visas, health cover, loss of mobile roaming etc. 4. Timing......late June to the end of August are out of the question due to the heat. December, January, and February should also be avoided due to variable Winter conditions. Unfortunately we can't plan anything at the moment.......because we could still have restrictions of sorts in place this time next year. Putting the idea out there to gauge interest is all we can do at the moment. In fact given our ages now......this could be the Last Dance! @Specs @boboneleg @Renegade @Catteeclan @DangerRuss58 @Skippy @Sir Fallsalot @Buckster @Sofia @Cupid Stunt @Muddy @yen_powell @Pedro @MooN @BusBoy1 point

Well, if i got on my KLR and started riding, how many motors would i need to get there? lol1 point

Well, i can honestly say its one of the best bikes in the world if you dont like going over 45mph....and if you want to ride off-road get 3 of these first.?1 point

If you've got a KLR I can't imagine any scenario whereby everything in the world is right Pedro!1 point

Nice think with carburated thumpers or twins is that when they are set up and valves put to spec and carbs synchronized you can really tell the difference and it seems everything in the world is right! That's how it felt in my Hondas and BMWs, don't know about KLRs ?1 point

My present DR650 is an Australian model 2012, I've got all the aussie paperwork with it . Guy was a Brit who worked in the mines near Perth , bought it back to the UK with him when he moved back, I was lucky enough to snap it up when he put it up for sale. Here's the Aussie bike in the foreground with my 1996 UK bike behind............ Once i had them both I began the process of swapping over all the 'adventure' parts onto the Aussie bike...... Once it was all done I put the '96 UK bike back to almost o/e spec and put it up for sale.........1 point
