The fact that Bruce is still here, and still contributing, is a testament to the man's mentality. As far back as I can remember on maxbikes we've had members who didn't yet have bikes, or were between bikes for whatever reason and I've always thought that "biker" has more to do with mentality or "mind set" than anything else. He is also a scholar and a gentleman ( but don't tell him I said so) and has reached out numerous helping hands to a number of us, me included, both metaphorically and physically over the years. Top Man. ( if you quote me on any of this I will, of course, deny evrything)

I think Tymmeh deserves it. hanging lit mopeds in a tree for Christmas just does the trick. Besides, Bucky hasn't supplied sufficient content to merit the title.

ok, i'm impressed. I switched it off so I could remove the battery and re glue the feet back on it. it wouldn't start again and gave message " fan error" top left of the screen and then just shut down. I got a hammet and chisel out and removed the screws from the back, removed the keyboard which gave me access to the fan. i just blew gently on it a couple of times to see if it wasn't seized or anything but it moved ok so I gave a long steady blow in an attempt to clean it without damaging it. I replaced the keyboard and then hammered al the screws back in the holes. it started up first time and is now working again.! I'll see if I can get a can of air tomorrow and do it again, ( i get what you mean Bruce about the bearings). and give the whole thing a gentle blowjob...

Ta, I am working on creating a gap. hadn't thought of cleaning the fan.

is that a good or bad omen, I can't decide...

it's that time again. For some reason my laptop switches itself off and shuts down without warning. I have actually put this down to the bettery or charging system overheating as it seems to be linked to the underside of the unit getting very hot. I have managed to work with this by keeping an eye on the batt temp and either unplugging, if it's plugged in, or just stopping using it for a while which seems to allow it to cool down. Due to lockdown and stuff it has seen some fairly intensive usage over the last 6 months and is running most of the day with one thing and another. Unfortunately it has now started dropping the internet connection. when I try to reconnect it says there are no wifi networks available ( 2 other computors and the telly are all running off the wifi no problem). the troubleshooter says that there is no ethernet cable connected which is irrelevant cos it's alwas been connected via wifi. when I go into settings and look at the wifi connection status is says "disactivated" or something similar. the laptop dos have a physical manual switch on the side for the wifi and yes I have double checked each time that it is in the on position. the only solution I have is to switch the unit off and then back on again. it takes around 20 minutes to shut down ( normally very quick) but when I restart it it will reconnect to the wifi network with no problem. any ideas why it might do this or what I can do about it? apart from buying a new one which I don't have the means to do currently. The laptop is a Lenove X201 given to me a while ago by a friend. running windows 10.

"Covid : le Royaume-Uni de plus en plus isolé et au bord du chaos" this title, literal translation "Covid; The United Kingdom more and more isolated and on the brink of chaos" is the headline on one of the national newpapers website here at the mo, You boy's noticed any Chaos yet? ? ?

I lube after washing, or whenever I think it needs it. I clean the chain from time to time when I have time but not systematically. with a paintbrush and parrafin ( I'm sure that will make some people cringe)

He's taught me so much over the years... ?

fuck off, neither my phone n'or Camera came out of their waterproof bags that weekend. I have one photo at first fuel stop on the way down which I can't find. I do have the bdage and sticker to prove that I was there though. The second night the weather was so apalling everyone was evacuated to the nearby villages in the middle of the night to sleep in the village halls and sports facilities...

between 1€35 and 1€45 a litre for 95 octane here at the moment I think. I am very confused about fuel at the moment as for the first time I have a car that uses petrol rather than diesel but burns consistently less than the bike... all very strange!

they've easd the lock down rules here a little as of today. much stays the same but all shops are now allowed to reopen but restrict access to 1 client per 3m2 i think. restaurants and bars remain shut. we're now allowed 20km and 3 hrs recreation as opposed to 1h 1km last week.

it all seems to react marginally quicker here. so all good. though I half expected to be stranded on a ghost board somewhere in the ether...

amazing isn't it. My father, who is an intelligent man ( or was ) is still convinced that the whole thing is blown out of all proportion ( though he doesn't actually deny it is a problem). In His defence, he has reached an age where he has nothing to loose, thinks the world has become a horrible place and doen't really want to be a pert of it anymore anyway. I just have to remind him gently that that by not obeying the rules on this, though he might not be bothered, he may well infect somebody else who doesn't feel the same way...

still in confinement here. weather clear but cold and we had the first frost of the season this morning. Had to send No. 1 out for supplies this morning as Madame MooN is not well. I don't think it's the dreaded lurghy but she does so as a professional hypochondriac she is is busy preparing for the worst .

I'm going slowly loopy, forced idleness due to kneee op. can't even buy any more books cos the book shops are shut... I think I should change my internet pseudo to " Beau Nidle" ...

they also appear to be relatively honest about what they're for, i mean they openly admit that this one is aimed at newer riders, getting them into the Triumph brand. I have seen soooo many makers trying to convince us that their bike is perfect for beginners but so technologically advanced that it's also perfect for advanced riders and race circuits if you just change the exhaust pipe and RTW trips if you just nail some panniers on the back and stunters if you take the lights off etc etc etc. this presentation at least seems to be fairly upfront about what this bike is for. I like that. Not sure about the pillion seat though... but as with the truncated rear end, it's down to aesthetics i suppose.

I couldn't tell you Pete, cos I'm obeying the rules and not going out... It is a French national passtime though, finding ways of geting around the rules and regs, they call it " systeme D" and became a national sport during the occupation. I, however have a wife who works in the medical profession and a number of friends who do also at differing levels. They all insist that keeping social interaction to a minimum is the best defence. Me being idiot and obedient, am staying in.
