  1. I borrowed a DSLR from a friend a while back and really enjoyed using it and got some stunning photos with a little bit of pre planning and thought. But don't worry, I won't be getting one anytime soon. I do agree with Pedro's comment about the pain in the arse of hauling around a big camera and my current one just fits in my pocket. I use the phone for navigation and it winds me up having to get it out from it's mount every time I want to take a pic, so I still prefer using the camera. I might look at a higher res compact over the next few months though, or maybe some post production software so's I can tweak the pics on the putor.
  2. I fail to understand how you can still be surprised at my mindboggling ineptitude with all things computerised... it's not like I haven't always been a complete arse at it.
  3. start taking the pics, post 'em up when Pedro opens the BOTM thread.
  4. It's not camera advice I need, it's money for a decent f'kin camera... I'd like a decent DSLR for Christmas if you're feeling generous... I also just discovered that I have somehow managed to loose a load of picturs...they're on here, some are on fessedebouc but they ain't anywhere I can find them on the poota. ?
  5. nt quite but yes I have a cheap camera and the light was waaaay lower than i'd usually take pics in.
  6. nice pics Grassshopper! total lockdown here now and as I'm furloughed from work there'll be no ridng at all untill further notice. I did walk the 300yds to the bakery and back for bread this morning but that is going to get stale pretty fast... ( ) I am allowed to go food shopping and from monday pick the kids up from school but them being twins and too big to fit in the panniers, that ain't going to be by bike...unless one of them gets ill... hmmm, I wonder...?
  7. What? I don't take any pics from a distance, can't be arsed to walk that far...
  8. careful Buck, the French are being targeted by religious extremist terrorists for a cartoon...
  9. nice pics Pedro. I sooooo miss the coast . the nearest coast to me is a about a 5 hr ride...
  10. i just discoverd that you can change your vote... ok, I wa trying to see if I could vote twice and rig it but I didn't manage that...
  11. yeah, but I'm talking an average apeed over a number oh hours Pete, on the decent roads I'm usually riding around 100 - 110kph but over 3 or 4 hours your average would be a lot lower.
  12. European law would not allow seizure or fine on the sole grounds of the data protection act, filming in a PUBLIC place is the key, unless you are filming children ( and an official complaint is made to the police) or can be deemed to be filming for commercial purposes in which case you'd need permission from local authorities.
  13. to and from work is allowed. work is allowed. food shopping is allowed. only essential goods shops are open ( and professional suppliers so we can all still work) anything not work is not allowed. Any ( including work) travel must be justified with a signed permit. crossing any border within the EU must be justified and acco;panied by a negative Covid test report less than 72 hrs old. This comes into force midnight tonight. There was ( at 18h00) 600km of traffic jam outbound from Paris give them a little more time and there'll be jackbooted militia in the streets shouting " PAPIERS BITTE!"... " AUSWEISS!, SCHNELL!"
  14. Whilst riding the back roads around here and a mix of back roads and main roads ( not autoutes) I regularly average between 50 and 60kph over the ride. this does include photo stops etc etc but not stop where the engine is off like lunch or coffee stops. Today I did nearly 400km on secondary roads, no tracks or trails and took only a couple of photos and my average speed was around 65 kph. ( ish ) What is you're average speed over a ride ( not counting motorway obviously). The reason I ask is that I have just watched a couple of "adventure ride" youtube videos from various parts of the world and if their figures are right, they're doing over 500km on dirt roads in a little over 6 hoursm which means an average speed of around 80kph... for 6 Hrs... on dirt roads...( I'm presuming they're not countin the time spent for stops or filming but only riding time cos otherwise they'd have to be itting speeds upwards of 150km/h much of the time to reach that average.) I don't do that on asphalt! So are they riding Gods? Is it me who's captain slow? Don't get me wrong, I'm really not bothered by it I just wondered what you lot thought.
  15. General Lockdown in France from tomorrow midnight to !st december. And there was me hoping to get some riding in between now and mid nov when I have the knee op. Stoopid thing is they'll slow the spread down just sufficiantly to allow everyone out for Chrismas... which will then recontaminate the entire country and oblige another lockdown in janruary. Fuck 'em, i'm gomg riding tomorrow then, I'll be home around 23H58...
  16. don't need thermo nuclear war to create these places , any war will do. the pics remind me of Ouradour sur Glane (which I did do a RR on way back when...)
  17. I would suggest that your information is out of date Tym, time you came over and updated your files I reckon.
  18. Had a serious session with the physio this morning which did my arm some good so I thought I'd better cancel that out straight away by going riding this afternoon out towards Chablis and Tonnerre first leaft home about 3 ish. Almost caught the curvature of the earth here, or what would be the curvature if it wasn't actually flat of course... 9/10ths cloud cover but not cold, about 16c I think. Chablis Vinyards going golden, shame the light was so poor a horsey farm for Pete and in a small village "Massangis" I nearly missed this but Tigger said "Oh! Tymmeh's Tomos!" But it wasn't, it's Motobecane from 1974 ( i think) and there's another one the other side I spent an hour or so here, this guy doesn't really sell them, he does them up. the motobecane will do about 70kph he reckons and last year he rode it down to the Millau viaduct and back with some mates on similar machines, that would be a hoot! in the vice in his workshop/ front room was the motor from a 1959 Solex his whole workshop looked like it had slipped out of the 60,s and today; The light was fading fast but when he said he used to ride big bikes and still had a Thruxton and a Velocette in the garage out the back I just had to have a peek and was confused to find only one bike... 'turns out to be a Velocette Venom Thruxton (which I didn't know even existed, I thought only triumph did a "thruxton") from 1967 if I remember right. gorgeous machine... but he rather i didn't take pics of it as it's worth quite a lot of money apparently. I still had an hour or so to ride home and it was nearly dark so I didn't take any more pics and got home around 7. My arm now hurts like hell, but it was worth it.
  19. word on the street is that france will be locking down again as soon as the school hols are over ( 2nd nov) if the current curfews arenot effective.
  20. Very few pics this month, so best of a poor lot.
  21. MooN

  22. If nobody saw it it didn't happen, same as dropping a bike.
