  1. the 501 is a proper race bike engine, though, I wouldn't want that. The 701 is a posh 690 with nicer rear suspension, which is fine by me.
  2. That 701 looks like a proper quality bike in person.
  3. If buying new, I would agree, but there's something to be said for saving 6 or 7k on a second bike dedicated for once or twice a year offroad touring and buying a big tank TTR or XTE, or even KTM 690R
  4. This is just the internet and we're friends so don't share my opinion, but design doesn't matter for shit if quality control and metal quality doesn't back it up.
  5. Well, the swingarms look great ... really!
  6. I’m half drunk and about to call my brother, who went to school with AJP’s owner’s son if there are deals to be made. are you sure?
  7. I would want none of that except in a warm Range Rover
  8. BMW 320d sales rep vs. E30 M3, the result is not good for the soul
  9. The AJP, It’s portuguese designed and assembled. Their swingarms look great, but I looked at one side by side with an Husqvarna on a dealership, and it broke my heart. Isn’t the engine italian?
  10. That is a pretty bike
  11. I do like a competent chassis and fuel injection. Character doesn't need to die, you can still have twin cylinder bikes and buy bikes with no gear change assistance and riding modes and stuff like that, but why would you choose to have worst suspension or brakes just because? It's like choosing to buy shit tires and brake pads just to make it more of a challenge.
  12. Penicillin is usually the answer for pins and needles on your bell end.
  13. for more or less the same theoretical acceleration times, 12 seconds on a 70s bike is going to feel a lot more aggressive than 12 seconds on a 2000's bike. It's like riding at over 150kmh with a poorly fitting crap old helmet, and a brand new properly fitting Shoei, speed is the same, feels a little different.
  14. See this picture, this the Baia de Espinho, my hometown: I never go to the beach in this spot because it's too crowded. Nowadays, if you walk the walkways at night you have a nice view of the beach, courtesy of some spotlights, like on the picture above. These spotlights were first turned on (first time, ever) around 18 or 19 years ago, at around 10 or 11pm on a summer friday night, while me and my girlfriend were getting out of the water, naked. Made it easier to find our clothes, though. Edit: it's the Atlantic, cold water
  15. First time I drank whiskey was on the lower deck of a school trip bus when I was 15, downed half a bottle of something like it was nothing. I then proceeded to throw up on a paper basket (a weave paper basket) while I walked around the bus.
  16. Looks like a gravity racer, have always been interested in having one.
  17. Well, either Wednesday or Thursday I’m riding down to Ericeira for dinner, then home for two or four nights. I am missing my little corner. No amazing pictures because I have posted about most of it already, except a couple just to make jealous.
  18. Yes, but I don't like to spread my butter too thin. During the week I hardly ever ride, and can't have more than 1 bike available here up north. On the weekend, I don't need another two bikes next to an already stopped XR400. I'm in love with my GS, and to be honest I can't think that I would ride any other bike when this one is parked in the same garage. Even the thumper, I would like to go to Morocco with something lighter and better offroad, but still want to go on the GS on the next trip, so... I think of buying bikes when I'm bored at home, but honestly think I would hardly ride them.
  19. Well, that either worked great because she got euphoric to be alive, or terrible if she thinks you almost got her killed.
  20. I think that's not offroad, Pete, it's just the camera angle ?
  21. I’ve been thinking of a Moto Guzzi roadster sort of bike for months, or a bigger 600 thumper for Morocco offroad ...
  22. They’re stinky, though ...
  23. Pete, do you paint the letters on your tires?
